摘要: Various example embodiments for supporting egress rerouting of data packets in communication devices are presented herein. The egress rerouting of a data packet in a communication device may be performed by rerouting a data packet received via an ingress forwarding element of the communication device from a first egress forwarding element of the communication device associated with a primary next-hop for the data packet to a second egress forwarding element of the communication device associated with a secondary next-hop for the data packet.

摘要: A dedicated control path architecture for systems of devices, such as stacking systems, is provided. In one embodiment, a network device for use in a system of devices can comprise a CPU complex; a first set of ports for establishing a data path between the network device and other network devices in the system of devices; and a second set of ports for establishing a control path between the network device and the other network devices in the system of devices. The control path can be separate from the data path and can allow the CPU complex to exchange control plane traffic with other CPU complexes resident in the other network devices.

摘要: The present invention discloses an active and standby switching interface module, a network element system and a method for synchronizing and detecting link information. In the scheme of the present invention, the standby switching function interface module sends a synchronization detection request message to a synchronization module, and performs synchronization processing on the link information on the standby switching function interface module according to a synchronization detection reply message from the synchronization module, wherein the synchronization detection reply message encapsulates the link information on the active switching function interface module. The scheme provided by the present invention effectively performs the synchronization and consistent detection on the link information, thereby correctly switch the data on the active switching function interface module to the link of the standby switching function interface module when the active switching function interface module is required to perform the active and standby switching due to problems such as the failure and so on.

摘要: Certain features relate to improving the link-fault tolerance in a distributed antenna system (DAS) by utilizing a series of synchronous Ethernet frames. A receiving remote unit or a head-end unit in the DAS can predict the start of incoming Ethernet frames based on frame information extracted from previously received Ethernet frames. For example, a remote unit can be configured to receive one or more Ethernet frames, each of the one or more Ethernet frames including a start-of-frame field. After a period of time corresponding to the frame repetition rate, the remote unit can search for an additional start-of-frame field, indicating the receipt of the next Ethernet frame. The remote unit can extract the payload data from the next Ethernet frame based on the predicted value for the additional start-of-frame field.

摘要: In some examples, a switching system includes a plurality of fabric endpoints and a multi-stage switching fabric having a plurality of fabric planes each having a plurality of stages to switch data units between any of the plurality of fabric endpoints. A fabric endpoint of the fabric endpoints is configured to send, to a switch of a first one of the stages and within a first fabric plane of the plurality of fabric planes, a self-ping message destined for the fabric endpoint. The fabric endpoint is configured to send, in response to determining the fabric endpoint has not received the self-ping message after a predetermined time, an indication of a connectivity fault for the first fabric plane.

摘要: Techniques for managing configuration of virtual switches in a virtual machine network are disclosed. In an embodiment, a virtual machine network that includes virtual switches is configured to revert back to a saved network configuration if a configuration change causes the connection between the VM management system and a managed node to be lost. For example, before any configuration changes are made, the active configuration is saved. If the new configuration supports a working connection between the managed node and the VM management system, then the saved configuration is no longer needed and can be flushed from memory. If, however, the new configuration causes the managed node to be disconnected from the VM management system, then the system reverts back to the saved configuration that was previously known to work. The saved configuration is used to reestablish the connection so that the network continues to function.
