摘要: A method, computer program product, and system provide real time, two way audio-video conversation between mobile computing devices. Low latency is achieved by splitting the audio and video data streams from a given audio-video conversation using two different transport protocols to send the separate streams over a network, and re-syncing them at the other end. The transmission for each stream is tuned based on feedback data indicating available bandwidth of the network or other mobile computing device. A server offloads processing requirements that would otherwise be handled by the mobile computing device. The two way conversation can be externally observed by web-based users. The system functions over a disparate set of mobile computing device endpoints and web-based endpoints, and over different wireless carrier network infrastructures.

摘要: This disclosure relates to techniques for synchronizing playback of media data between a source device and one or more sink devices in a Wireless Display (WD) system. WD systems enable mobile devices to share a local display of the source device with remote sink devices. The techniques of this disclosure include a management procedure at the source device to select a universal queue size for the source device and the participating sink devices. The source device selects the universal queue size based at least on supported queue sizes of the source device and the sink devices. The media packets are then held in queues having the universal queue size at the source device and the sink devices. The uniform queue size combined with compensation for transmission delay enables each of the devices to begin processing the media packets at the same time.

摘要: A virtual conferencing system is described which evaluates and selects participants for active participation based on one or more criteria. For example, one embodiment of virtual conferencing system comprises: a plurality of clients operated by participants and at least one moderator of a virtual conference, each of the clients comprising state management logic to maintain a current state of the virtual conference; a virtual conferencing service to establish audio and/or video connections between the plurality of clients during the virtual conference, the virtual conferencing service further including a state synchronization service communicatively coupled to the state management logic on each client to ensure that the current state of the virtual conference is consistent on each client; a virtual conferencing graphical user interface (GUI) to be rendered on the plurality of clients, the virtual conferencing GUI configured, via signals sent from the state synchronization service, to display a video stream of one or more current speakers during the virtual conference utilizing the established video connections; and a decision support module to evaluate the participants according to one or more criteria in the virtual conference and to select a subset of the set of participants as candidates to actively participate in the virtual conference based on the evaluation.

摘要: Systems and methods for improving real-time coauthoring in a distributed environment without a central document manager are disclosed herein. Due to communication being non-instantaneous, the state of a document on an endpoint may differ from the state of the document on an editor at the time that an edit is made. The different states, however, may be reconcilable via a vector clock translation. Each coauthor may maintain an array of vector clocks to track the state of the document for each coauthor. The vector clocks may be included when transmitting indications of edits so that an endpoint in a modified state can translate the edit to comply with the modified state of the document. Translating edits enables more edits to be implement in real-time than otherwise possible in a distributed environment without a central document manager.
