The invention relates to a PCS-server (PCS-SERV) of a personal communication system (PCS) providing personal telephone numbers (PTN) for PCS subscribers. A PCS subscriber can send a handling message (DP-HMESS) to the PCS-server (PCS-SERV) and can form a specific handling of one or more destination profiles (DP1, DP2, ...DPm; DPm+1, DPm+2...) stored in a destination profile memory (DP-MEM). The specific handling relates to the specific selection and activation/deactivation or switching between specific destination profiles or to the setting of specific call distribution criteria in the destination profiles. The call distribution criteria relat to origin parameter (ORGP), teleservice-type parameters (TELEP), busy option parameters (BOP) and number of call parameters (NOCP). The PCS subscriber can therefore flexibly configure and use the destination profiles allocated to his personal telephone number (PTN). Based on the selected call distribution criteria a flexible delivery of the calls by using the so-set destination profiles is possible.

The combination of narrowband application with broadband transport may be enabled with an intermediate signaling protocol that supports narrowband inter-domain bearer independent call control (BICC) signaling over a broadband network. For each setup request carried by the BICC signaling protocol, a seize device message is forwarded from narrowband call control node to an intermediate entity responsible for converting the seize device message into a broadband endpoint request message. The interworking entity obtains broadband endpoint information from a selected broadband endpoint and creates a dynamic device representing the selected broadband endpoint. The dynamic device is used in the establishment of inter-domain switch connections.

An automated dialer (100) for a call center (105) maximizes agent efficiency in two different ways. In a first method overdial probability is expressed as a probability function of number of agents and total traffic volume; the probability function is set equal to a maximum allowable overdial probability; and the resulting equation is solved for maximum total traffic volume producing the maximum overdial probability. The maximum total traffic volume is then used to determine a new dialing rate by dividing the difference between the calculated maximum traffic volume and known inbound traffic volume by the product of average call length and hit rate, where hit rate is the percentage of connected calls to total dialed outbound calls. In a second method a maximum total traffic volume is calculated from total number of agents times a desired agent utilization factor, and the total traffic volume is used as in the first method to calculate and set a new dialing rate for outbound calls.
