摘要： Devices, systems and methods for distribution of digital content are provided. At least a security manager of a media block is located within a tamper-responsive enclosure, the security manager and/or the media block bonded to a transcoder in a security marriage based on a cryptographic certificate associated with at least the media block. The media block provides, to the transcoder via a data bridge, encrypted output generated from digital content and based on a first cryptographic key. The transcoder generates respective transcoded outputs associated with one or more tokens used for playback of the respective transcoded outputs at respective end-user devices, the respective transcoded outputs generated from the encrypted output decrypted using a second cryptographic key associated with the first cryptographic key. The respective transcoded outputs are output to the respective end-user devices associated with respective tokens.

A media guidance application may transmit a media asset for simultaneous display to a first device and a second device. During playback of the media asset, the media guidance application may receive indications of the amount of the media asset consumed by the first and second device. In response to determining that one device has fallen behind in playback, the media guidance application may pause playback on other devices. In response to determining that the devices have become synchronized in playback, the media guidance application may resume playback on all devices.

摘要： Particular embodiments provide dynamic seek processing that minimizes re-buffering after a seek request is received. When a seek occurs to a seeking position, a media player downloads a segment N of the media program that includes the seeking position. To address possible re-buffering, the media player employs a seeking process that may analyze playback factors to determine when to start playback after the segment N that contains the seeking position has been downloaded. Factors include the position within the segment N, the current bandwidth, the next segment's size, and the current bitrate being requested. Depending on these factors, the media player may decide to delay playback even though the segment N has already been downloaded. This allows the next segment N+1 more time to download and then playback can begin with less chance of re-buffering. Particular embodiments also provide a process to calculate the number of seconds to delay playback.

An embodiment allows multimedia device users to select programs to record or download movie or music over a network, such as the Internet, from a content provider. The system automatically downloads and stores ancillary program data that is directly related to, and associated with, a program that has been selected for recording or content requested for download. When a user selects a program to view the user is offered the opportunity to browse ancillary program data associated with the program and view an ancillary program data. The service can charge the content provider or an advertiser for each time their ancillary program data is viewed by a user. The ancillary programming is deleted when the associated recorded program is deleted.

摘要： A scheme for managing delivery of segmented media content in an ABR network, wherein bitrates of a manifest file may be selectively modified or removed based on a client device's video buffer characteristics. An ABR stream delivery server is operative to simulate the client device's video buffer in a streaming session and accordingly modify the manifest files to include metadata for media segments encoded at a particular single bitrate responsive to the buffer performance and other network conditions. Responsive to monitoring the video buffer characteristics of the media player during the streaming session, a selected single bitrate may be moved up or down to other bitrates of the manifest files.
