    摘要: A method and apparatus is shown for leading an imaging surface relative to an imaging beam under two controls where first and second leading spaces are produced. The second leading space being a different width than the first leading space, is distributed amongst the first leading space separating a plurality of line pairs. The second leading space is interspersed within first leading spaces and is visually less perceptible to the human eye. A pattern describing a matrix of row and column positions control the spacial movement of an imaging beam and after each leading step the imaging beam reproduces the original graphic within each of the elemental image positions or image areas of the matrix.

    摘要: An optical scanning technique employs an optical sensor array (54) for collecting image pixel data from a flat medium (10) during a scanning cycle. A motion apparatus (72, 92) provides relative motion between the sensor array and the medium such that a spiral locus is defined by the sensor array relative to the media during a scanning cycle. The spiral maximum diameter may be made equal to the diagonal dimension of a rectangular media, thus allowing pixel data to be collected very close to the edge of the media, and so reducing or eliminating the area of unscannable margins on both sides and the top and bottom of the media. The motion apparatus can include a turntable (80) for rotating the flat medium about a center of coordinates, and a translatable carriage (60) holding the sensor array. An ink jet printhead (40) can be mounted on the motion apparatus, to provide a multi-function scanner/printer machine.

There is also provided means for imparting to the base element a continuous rotary movement about a rotation axis defined therein, to provide a scanning movement thereof, wherein the image modification produced by the device is substantially a function of the ratio between the first interlocation spacing and the second interlocation spacing.
