摘要: Systems and methods for obtaining effective measurements in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a node (i.e., a measuring node) in a cellular communications network performs a reference measurement at the node, where the reference measurement contains one or more interference components. The node then mitigates at least one of the interference components contained in the reference measurement to thereby provide an effective measurement. In one embodiment, the effective measurement is used by the measuring node, reported to another node, or both used by the measuring node and reported to another node.

摘要: There is provided a method, performed by a network node, for enabling uplink power control in a wireless network. The method comprises assigning (S1) a transmit power for downlink transmission of a reference signal, wherein the reference signal is to be used for power control of at least one uplink transmission. The method further comprises determining (S2) a reference signal transmit power parameter providing a fictitious value for the transmit power of the reference signal that is different from the assigned transmit power. The method also comprises transmitting (S3) the reference signal transmit power parameter to at least one wireless device to enable the wireless device(s) to perform transmit power determination for the uplink transmission(s) at least partly based on the fictitious value for the transmit power of the reference signal.

摘要: A base station in a cellular network, such as a femtocell access point, has a first coverage area, and is located in a second coverage area associated with a second base station. The base station operates to detect a possibility of interference based on estimated first path losses, between the base station and points in the first coverage area, and a second path loss, between the base station and a user equipment that is attached to the second base station. The second path loss may be estimated in the base station, although there is no connection between the base station and the user equipment attached to the second base station, by estimating the average transmit power of the user equipment that is attached to the second base station; detecting in the base station signals transmitted by the user equipment that is attached to the second base station; and estimating the second path loss from a difference between the estimated average transmit power and the power of the detected signals transmitted by the user equipment that is attached to the second base station.

Transmit power may be defined for an access node (e.g., a femto node) such that a corresponding outage created in a cell (e.g., a macro cell) is limited while still providing an acceptable level of coverage for access terminals associated with the access node. An access node may autonomously adjust its transmit power based on channel measurement and a defined coverage hole to mitigate interference and perform a self-calibration process.

摘要: Out of band (OOB) communication facilitates femtocell operation. One or more proximity agent provides out of band communication with nodes (e.g., mobile client devices) to provide assistance in or otherwise facilitate femtocell discovery, reselection, and/or interference mitigation. Out of band communication techniques provide for low power discovery, association, and communication as compared to corresponding femtocell or cellular network communication techniques. An OOB proximity agent is provided in association with a femtocell to provide transmit power level control with respect to the femtocell. In operation, if a client device searches for and finds an OOB proximity agent, it will find a femtocell, thereby avoiding a need to aggressively search for femtocells.
