    摘要: An apparatus according to the invention for connecting metal strips (M1, M2) running successively into a strip treatment installation (A) comprises two cutting punches (4, 5) with in each case a cutting edge (18-20), which is assigned to a cutting edge (18-20) of the other cutting punch (4, 5) respectively. The cutting punches (4, 5) are movable in a cutting movement along a cutting axis (S), in order to introduce a cut into two successive end portions of the metal strips (M1, M2) and establish an undetachable connection in an adjacent region by deformation. In the same position with respect to the cutting axis (S), the cutting edges (18-21) of the cutting punches (4, 5) delimit a cutting gap (22, 23), which extends in the transverse direction (Q) and assumes a gap width (BS) in a width direction (B) aligned at right angles in relation to the transverse direction (Q) and to the cutting axis (S). According to the invention, optimal guidance of the cut is achieved by the cutting edges (18, 20; 19, 21) forming an acute angle (β) with the transverse direction (Q), as seen from the cutting direction (S), and by the cutting punches (4, 5) being adjustable in relation to one another in the transverse direction (Q) of the cutting gap (22, 23) for changing the gap width (BS).
