The laminate may further incorporate carbon fibres.

The composite panel comprises a substrate layer formed by impregnating or coating a substrate material of a woven or nonwoven fabric of inorganic fiber, or a paper, with a resin compound that contains an inorganic filler having loess as a main component and a thermosetting resin, and a rear layer of an aluminum sheet or a galvanized steel plate.

When the sheet material for the core layer consists of two or more layers, there can be interposed, between the layers of the sheet material for the core layer, a sheet material for a reinforcing layer obtained by impregnating a base sheet material made of an inorganic fiber, with a thermosetting resin. The present invention also provides a process for producing such a flame-retardant or nonflammable decorative sheet.
