摘要: The present invention pertains to a slide for a gravity-fed sorting machine. An optimum gravity slide configuration comprises one or more channels, with or without dividing rigs, and a product guide. The product guide has support tabs integral to or otherwise extending from its perimeter. Those tabs allow the product guide to be supported along it perimeter by brackets while retaining certain degrees of freedom regarding its ability to move. Specifically, the tabs rest in notches in the underlying support brackets that allow the product guide to be lifted up, thus permitting a potential obstruction to pass. Additionally, the brackets themselves are adjustably mounted to the sides of the slides. That allows the product guide's height above the channel bottom or dividing ribs to be varied to provide a clearance to best accommodate the particular product being sorted.

摘要: A method and apparatus for orientating discrete objects, such as gemstones, is described. The method comprises providing the objects on a travelling path; providing a pair of opposed walls (38) extending generally along the direction of the path; and generating relative oscillatory movement (14) between the pair of walls (38) and the travelling path (in a direction generally transverse to the direction of the path), so that the pair of walls (38) imparts lateral force to the objects to thereby urge them into their most stable orientation as they progress along the path. A device for checking the orientation of the discrete objects is also described.

摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus for separating cutlery from restaurant waste, and includes a glacis (2) for feeding food waste (17) towards a waste container (3), a stand (1) supporting the waste container (3) and the glacis (2), at least two flaps (6, 6') which are movable between two end positions for separating cutlery from waste (17), at least one detector (8) for sending a signal when an item (7) of cutlery passes over it, and a drive means (10) controlled by the signal such as to cause the flaps (6, 6') to move between their two end positions. At, or immediately under the free end (5) of the glacis (2), the flaps (6, 6') are fastened such as to permit them to move towards or away from each other, thus to provide an extension or a shortening of the glacis (2; 6, 6') for automatic separation and discharge of cutlery items (7) to a cutlery collection receptacle (9) situated in or in connection with the waste container (3).
