摘要： A press includes a frame, a flywheel, a motor for driving the flywheel, and a shaft. A clutch and brake assembly is provided which is actuable for engaging and disengaging the shaft to the flywheel. An eccentric is journaled upon the shaft and rotates therewith. The eccentric rotates in a block which is slidably mounted in a head to permit the block to move laterally within the head. The head is vertically movable in response to vertical movements of the block. The presse also includes an upper die which is mounted on the head and a lower die which is resiliently supported upwardly on a base. Movement of the head engages and disengages the upper die and lower die. One embodiment of the press includes a second set of dies mounted to the head for cutting a continuous sheet of material into a predetermined shape.

摘要： A press for forming sheet material into a shaped article comprising a frame, first and second complementary dies, a cam supported by the frame for reciprocally moving the first die along an axis between a first position axially spaced from the second die and a second position fully mated with the second die, the cam including a dwell period when the first die is in the second position. The press includes a bolster supporting the second die for axial movement between upper and lower limits, the bolster being axially spaced from the upper limit by movement of the first die to the second position. The press also includes a hydraulic power circuit responsive to the position of the cam for normally biasing the bolster toward its upper limit under a first hydraulic pressure and for biasing the bolster toward the upper limit under a second hydraulic pressure during the dwell period, the second hydraulic pressure being greater than the first hydraulic pressure.

摘要： The crown portion 20 of a press has an open top thereby permitting the crankshaft and connection arm assembly 56 to be lowered therein in a pre-assembled state. A cover plate 48 is then fitted to the crown and a motor 50 assembly is mounted thereon. Since the crown does not have to be inverted for the fitting of the crankshaft assembly it is possible for the press frame comprising the bed 14, uprights 18 and crown to be formed as a single casting thereby avoiding the necessity for tie rods.

摘要： in order to achieve thermal stability of the uprights (18) of a press in relation to the connection arms between the drive assembly and the slide of the press, waste heat from lubricant circulated through the drive assembly is utilized to heat the uprights (18). The oil is circulated through the crankshaft and connection arm assembly in the crown (20) and then caused to flow through a thermal transfer device (296) mounted to each of the uprights and comprising a series of baffles (300) over and through which the oil flows under gravity to form a series of vertically spaced pools in good thermal contact with the uprights. By adjusting the baffle structure so that the oil flows downwardly at a higher or lower rate, the amount of thermal transfer can be adjusted to ensure that equal thermal growth of the uprights and connection arms occurs.
