Der Kern der vorliegenden Erfindung besteht darin, auf das Papier bzw. ein Papiersubstrat mindestens einseitig eine filmbildende, organische Pigmente (Kunststoff-Pigmente) und Bindemittel enthaltende Beschichtung aufzubringen und diese nach dem Bedrukken durch Applikation zumindest von Wärme, vorzugsweise jedoch von Wärme und Druck, zu verfilmen. Die Druckfarbe wird hierbei zwischen den zusammenschmelzenden bzw. zusammensinternden Kunststoff-Pigmenten eingebettet und lässt sich dadurch nicht mehr verwischen. Die Papieroberfläche wird abriebfest und erhält durch den Kunststoff-Film folienähnliche Eigenschaften und ist zumindest wasserabweisend, wenn nicht gar wasserdicht versiegelt. Das aufgebrachte Druckbild erscheint dem Betrachter mit erhöhter Brillianz. Es hat sich zudem gezeigt, dass nach der Erfindung hergestellte Druckbilder wesentlich lichtbeständiger sind als herkömmliche Inkjet-Drucke.

Printing paper (P) is passed through a nip between a contact roller (37) and a counter roller (39) opposing the contact roller (37), the outer circumferential surface of the contact roller being coated with a layer of excess ink removing liquid which does not dissolve with the printing ink forming the printed image and has smaller surface tension than the printing ink, and the contact between the excess ink removing liquid layer a of the contact roller (37) and the printed surface of the printing paper (P) causes the excess portion of the printing ink ( b ) deposited on the printed image of the printing paper to be transferred onto the excess ink removing liquid layer ( a ) so as to remove the excess ink from the printing paper (P). A method and apparatus for making color filters for liquid crystal display panels. A transfer layer is formed on a collector roll, and a raised pattern corresponding to the desired black matrix pattern is formed on the transfer layer by an embossing means. A plurality of colored ink patterns is formed in the appropriate location within the boundaries formed by the raised pattern, thereby forming the multicolor image that will become the color filter. This multicolored image is then transferred to the substrate. Preferably, the inks are deposited into the black matrix pattern using typographic imaging pins which are smaller than the cells of the black matrix pattern.
