摘要: An envelope printing assembly providing for feeding of envelopes (7) and printing thereon while said envelopes (7) are in motion, including a plurality (77) of print heads (81, 83, 85, 87, 89 and 92) and a platen (75) for imprinting the envelopes (7), an envelope storage bin (5) for holding a stack of envelopes prior to printing, transport rollers (61, 67), timing control means (111) to produce timing signals corresponding to the speed of the transport rollers (61, 67), an envelope position sensor to produce control signals corresponding to envelope position, and a controller (121) to receive the timing and control signals to control the ''start time'' and speed of printing of the print heads (77), so that envelopes may be printed seriatim and lengthwise while continuously moving. The print heads (81, 83, 85, 87, 89 and 92) may be offset longitudinally to permit closer line spacing and ''start times'' of individual lines are adjusted accordingly.
