Bei einem Eisenbahngüterwagen (1) oder einer mehrteiligen Wagengruppe aus gattungsgleichen Wagen (1) der Bauart Selbstentladewagen zum Transport von schweren Schüttgütern, insbesondere Eisenerz, mit seitlichen Entladeklappen (4) und Sattelboden liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, den Wagen (1) derart zu verbessern, dass dieser ein besseres Verhältnis von Nutzlast zu Eigengewicht aufweist, eine Reduktion der Klappenöffnungsvorgönge erzielt und die Bildung einer mehrteiligen Wagengruppe aus erfindungsgemäßen Wagen (1) erzeugbar ist, die eine bessere Ausnutzung der maximal möglichen Transportlast im Ganzzugverkehr bei vorgegebenen Grenzparametern aus der Strecke ermöglicht. Gelöst wird diese Aufgabe dadurch, dass der Wagen (1) eine Länge über Puffer (LüP) oder Länge über Kupplung (LüK) von ca. 11,25 m aufweist, dass die Ladekammer (2) des Wagens (1) für eine Nutzlast von ca: 70 t ausgelegt ist, dass der Wagen (1) ausbildungsgemäß für eine Streckenmeterlast von maximal 8 t/m bei einer maximalen Radsatzlast von 22,5 t ausgelegt ist, dass das Fahrwerk durch zwei 2-achsige Drehgestelle (3) gebildet ist und dass je Seite eine Entladeklappe (4) angeordnet ist.

Self-discharging railway wagon The self-discharging railway wagon (1) is designed for the universal transport of bulk material in two hoppers (3) on a frame (5) with bogies (20), while the discharge gates (4) allow for continual and dosed unloading of the transported material either directly or onto a conveyor belt. The subject-matter of the invention lies in the shortening of the wagon (1) length (L) within the range of 12680 mm to 12950 mm while maintaining an optimal loading volume of 48 m3 ±10°, while achieving an optimal position of the center of gravity above the rails (25) and discharge angle alpha = 50°± identical at the side walls (16) and front walls (17) of the hopper (3) for problem-free unloading of various types of bulk material, especially sand and gravel, as well as in the design of lightened construction with a low actual wagon (1) weight. According to the invention, the wagon (1) is fitted with shortened headings (6) with recessed plates (13) of the chambers of the headings (6) with a central cavity (26) for automatic coupling, bogies (20) without headstocks and with integrated braking units (36) for automatic coupling, lightened reinforcing saddles (19) and improved control mechanism (18) for controlling the discharge gates (4). The parameters of the wagon (1) allow for a better ratio of loading volume / net weight for trains, which leads to an improved economy of railway freight transport.

A method and apparatus for handling and dry quenching coke comprises a coke box (10) for receiving and dry cooling a coke charge from a coke oven in a pollution-free manner and a self-propelled carrier vehicle (12) having four-wheel steering capability for transporting the coke box. The carrier vehicle includes a lower main frame (16) and an upper tilt frame (14) for supporting the coke box and being pivotally connected (18) by a pivot shaft (190) for discharging the dry cooled coke charge from the coke box or the coke box containing the coke charge. The carrier vehicle is provided with hydraulic cylinder assemblies (52, 74) for maneuvering the position of the coke box supported within the upper tilt frame for alignment with the face of a coke oven for receiving a coke charge and for locking the position of the coke box with respect to the tilt frame during charging and discharging of the coke charge. The carrier vehicle is equipped with a water cooling system for cooling the exterior surfaces of the coke box and an inert gas cooling system for circulating gas within the coke box.
