The mounting mechanism (10) includes an elongated mounting bracket (30) that is mounted adjacent the bicycle wheel assembly. Preferably a first end of the bracket (30) is coupled to the wheel dropout (12) of the frame (16) and a second end of the bracket is coupled to a portion of the bicycle frame, such as the seat stay (14). A mounting band (52) or other similar coupling element may be used to couple the second end to the frame (16) such that the integrity of the frame (16) is not compromised. The disk brake component (18) to be mounted adjacent the wheel is coupled to the mounting bracket preferably between the ends of the bracket (30).

An antilock disk brake for use with a vehicle is fixed to the fork of the front (or back) wheel(s), and is cooperated with the brake disk of the wheel(s) to cause the braking action. The antilock disk brake comprises a slide rest, plurality of steel balls, a main axis disk, a gear disk, a mesh plate and a spring. The antilock disk brake will move along the track of the slide rest and absorb the shock of the brake with the cooperation of the mesh plate, the main axis disk, steel balls and the gear disk, when the inertia force of the emergency brake larger than the critical value of the elastic force of the spring. Thus, the antilock brake of the invention can be used to prevent the lock of the brake disk and the instability of the driving when the vehicle is emergency braked.
