    摘要: The invention relates to the shipbuilding industry and can be used for high-speed vessels, crafts and motorboats. The aim of the invention is to develop a compact water-jet propulsion engine having a reduced weight and reduced dimensional characteristics. Said invention also makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the propulsion engine, improve the productibility thereof and to solve ecological problems. The aim is achieved by reducing the size of a nozzle provided with a slotted outlet section and by using a water-lubricated restraint plate and bearings. The inventive water-jet propulsion and steering system comprises a flow conduit, a hydraulic pressure device provided with a hub fairing and arranged on a shaft with bearings, a straightening device having profiled posts for fixing the hub fairing of a working wheel to the nozzle and a reverse steering device provided with a rotatable deflector. Said water-jet propulsion and steering system enables a vessel to move at different speeds while running ahead, while the vessel is reversed and in a "stop" position, and also to manoeuvre during all modes of motion. According to a model test, said invention makes it possible to increase the propulsion characteristics of the water-jet propulsion and steering system by 5-10 %, the overall dimensions of the reverse steering unit being reduced by 50-60 % and the weight of the water-jet engine by 10-20 %.
