The driver (2) is provided with a base body (4) extending in the chain direction and with a beveled driver horn (3) angled away from the base body, said driver horn being insertable into the clear inner chamber (5) of a chain link (6). The driver horn (3) is beveled at an angle away from the base body. The base body has a contact and displacement surface (18) for an additional driver (2), said surface running substantially parallel to the chain direction. In order to increase durability while at the same time preserving a simple structure and without increasing installation expense, the invention provides for the contact and displacement surface (18) to be at least partially delimited by a support section (23) of the base body protruding substantially perpendicularly to the contact and displacement surface (18) on the side of said surface facing the link chain (7).

In order to improve the running behaviour of the link chain (50) in the case of low surface pressure between the chain wheel and the horizontal chain links (2), the horizontal chain links (2) have on both sides, in the narrowing (18), carry-along means (21) by means of which scrapers which can be connected to the horizontal chain links (2) are carried along in a form-fitting manner and/or the cross-sectional profile (10) of the vertical chain links is provided with bevelling in each case at the transition between the flattened portion and the curved portion. The invention also relates to a chain wheel which is suitable for this chain.

Both of these parts each support a portion of one or more chain bed(s) (11, 12), which are passed through by a flat parting plane, and support a portion of the recesses, which are provided for receiving screws (19) of the screw connections and which are located outside of the chain bed. The upper part and lower part at least partially surround one another, and the upper part is provided in the form of a clamp-like bridge element, which overlaps the lower part on top at both ends. Both ends (22) of the bridge-like upper part have the shape of a wedge head with upper and lower guide surfaces (24, 25) that intersect while forming a wedge, and an engagement between the upper part and the lower part ensues at both ends by means of lug-like centering projections (17), which are provided on the upper part or lower part and which engage inside corresponding recesses of the contact surfaces of the lower part or upper part. Supporting surfaces (42) are provided between the upper part and lower part and serve to effect a release (33) between the upper part and the lower part.
