To provide a silvery glass top plate for a cooker which can be manufactured at a low cost and can prevent appearance of a stain caused by silicone grease irrespective of indoor environment, and a process for manufacturing the same. The present invention relates to a glass top plate 1 for a cooker which is used in the state where an object 6 is adhered to the back surface side 12 thereof via silicone grease 5, and a process for manufacturing the same. The glass top plate 1 has a glass substrate 2, a pearly paint layer 3 and a heat resistant light shielding layer 4. The pearly paint layer 3 is formed by applying a paint coating material containing a specific additive, a silica forming material and a pearly pigment onto the back surface side 12 of the glass substrate 2 and baking it.

A method for forming an optical waveguide, characterized in that it comprises applying a paste containing a copper compound on a surface of a glass substrate containing an alkali metal as a glass component over the whole surface thereof or in a patterned form, and subjecting the paste to a heat treatment at a temperature lower than the softening temperature of the glass substrate. The method allows the manufacture of an optical waveguide without the need for high vacuum, which is required in the thin film deposition method, and without the use of a molten salt, and also allows the dispersion of Cu+ ions alone in a glass substrate with good controllability.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zum Herstellen gemusterter Lüsterüberzüge auf Oberflächen von Körpern aus glasierter Keramik, insbesondere Fliesen, Glas oder Emaille unter Benutzung einer der herzustellenden Musterung entsprechenden Abdeckung. Man erzeugt auf der Oberfläche des als Substrat dienenden Körpers mittels einer durch Siebdruck aufgebrachten Paste ein Negative der Musterung, erhitzt den mit dem Musternegativ versehenen Körper in einem Ofen auf eine Temperatur oberhalb etwa 400°C, taucht den Körper anschließend in die Lösung einer Metallverbindung, die mit der durch Siebdruck nicht abgedeckten Oberfläche des Körpers zu einer dünnen Schicht aus dem Metall und Oxiden des Metalls reagiert. In der Metall/Metalloxid-. Schicht des durch die Tauchung oberflächlich abgekühlten Körpers werden durch Wärmezufuhr Lüsterfarben hervorgerufen. Schließlich wird nach Ausbildung der Lüsterfarben die das Musternegative darstellende Siebdruck-Paste vom Körper entfernt.

A method of placing a metal oxide film on a surface of a heated glass substrate (16). The glass substrate in one which is being moved in a selected direction from a glass manufacturing process (20) and is one which would have a temperature in a range from (700-1200 F (370-650 C). The method is accomplished by spraying a heat decomposable, organic based metal salt onto the glass ribbon. The spray powder is delivered by means of a gaseous stream to a location spaced above the moving substrate. The spray powder is then accelerated from the location spaced above the moving glass substrate . The acceleration is accomplished by entraining the spray powder in a high velocity stream of air. The accelerated spray powder is directed downwardly toward the moving glass substrate and longitudinally along the selected direction of movement of the glass substrate. Individual particles of the spray are either vaporized, decomposed and reacted with oxygen to from a tightly adherent coating on the glass substrate, or they are rapidly exhausted.
