Novel compounds (and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts) and compositions which inhibit slow reacting substance of anaphylaxis in mammals are disclosed, together with methods for preparing said compounds and compositions and methods for their use for treating psoriasis, allergic reactions and inflammation and for reducing the severity of myocardial infarction resulting from heart attack. The novel compounds are of the formula A wherein Z and Z 1 are W-X or Y where W is 0, S, SO or S0 2 ; T is 7-15 alkyl; X is a 2-12 C divalent hydrocarbon group which may be substituted with the group -NHR a ; Y is 1-12 C alkylene; where T, X and Y can each contain 1-3 non-cumulative double or triple bonds; U is -CH 2 CH 2 -, -CH=CH-or -C≡C-; V is 1-4 C alkylene or a direct bond; R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen, CH 2 OR c , CHO, 2-tetrazolyl, CORd or S0 3 H, at least one of R 2 and R 3 being 2-tetrazolyl or carboxyl; and R is hydrogen or, where Z and Z 1 are both W-X, R can also be straight or branched chain alkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or, where Z and Z 1 are both Y, R can also be hydroxy or fluorine or can be combined with Z and with the mutually bonded carbon atom to form a C-Z double bond or a cyclopropane ring.

The invention concerns metallic salts of formula (I) which are difficult to dissolve in water, R1 and R2, which are identical or different, designating hydrogen or a lower alkyl group with between 1 and 3 carbon atoms, M being the cation of a metal which forms sulphides which are difficult to dissolve in water, and n meaning 1 or 2. The invention also concerns mixtures of these metallic salts. The metallic salts and their mixtures are produced by reacting carbon disulphide with ketones of formula (II), optionally with the addition of non-aqueous inert solvents and strong alkali, preferably potassium hydroxide, whereupon, by adding aqueous solutions of metallic salts of the metals M, the metallic salts of formula (I) which are difficult to dissolve in water are precipitated out. These salts are used as brighteners for electrolytic baths.

The present invention concerns the use, as an active electrode material, of compounds comprising at least one entity of formula (I): in which the phenyl group is substituted with one to four identical or different substituent(s) R, chosen from a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom chosen from fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine, a -C(=S)-S - C+ group, an -O-C+ group, an -S-C+ group, C+ being an alkali cation chosen from Li+, Na+ and K+, a (C 1 -C 12 ) alkyl radical, a (C 2 -C 12 ) alkenyl radical, a (C 6 -C 14 ) aryl or heteroaryl radical; or two vicinal substituents R that can, if appropriate, be linked to each other to together form a 3- to 7-membered ring optionally including another heteroatom chosen from N, O or S; in the base or salt form; and the tautomeric forms of same.
