Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the treatment of textiles used for facial masks. The textiles treated according to the methods of invention ensure for inactivation of viruses captured by the textile. The method for preparation of virucidal polymer textile materials, comprising the following steps:
a) textile material pre-treatment using non-equilibrium gaseous plasma at a pressure below 1000 Pa, wherein the gaseous plasma comprising at least 5 vol% oxygen or water vapor with the fluence of reactive particles, in particular neutral oxygen atoms or OH radicals, between 3×10 22 m -2 and 3×10 25 m -2 ,
b) treatment of the pre-treated material obtained in step a) with a diluted solution of a virucidal substance, wherein the virucidal substance is a water solution of a virucidal agent with a concentration in the range from 0.05 to 15% (w/w), and
c) drying the material treated in step b) at a temperature below 100 °C.-

Abstract: A device and method for reducing biofouling on a surface of an object is provided, wherein the surface is at least partially submerged in an aqueous environment. The device comprises an enclosure which is or becomes water permeable during use, said enclosure defining an open proximal end and a closed distal end such that said enclosure at least partially surrounds the object while the surface is at least partially submerged in the aqueous environment. The open end defines one or more walls that remain spaced apart from the surface of the object in a not fully sealed arrangement when in use. The enclosure comprises perforations in the one or more walls for passing of water into and/or out of the enclosure, and wherein the one or more walls are flexible and comprise an inner surface. In use the enclosure at least partially surrounds the object in the aqueous environment such that the inner surface of the one or more walls of the enclosure faces the surface of the object and the enclosure allows water exchange therethrough to the surface of the object while preventing or limiting biofouling on the surface of the object such that a measure of one or more water chemistry features inside the enclosure is different compared to an equivalent measure outside of the enclosure.

Abstract: A deodorizing composition for reducing or suppressing odor from surfaces and method for same is provided. The deodorizing composition also provides antimicrobial protection while removing odor from a surface. The method includes applying a deodorizing composition to the surface affected by the malodors / odor-causing microbes. The deodorizing composition comprises a sulfonated polymer having an ion exchange capacity (IEC) of greater than 0.5 meq/g, and optionally a deodorizing agent selected from the group consisting of a) cage molecules, e.g., carcerands or macrocycles such as cyclodextrin, cucurbiturils, oxazoline, and calixarene; b) powder or solid odor absorbers such as sodium bicarbonate, hydrated silica (e.g., silicon dioxide), silica gel, perlite, bentonite or hectorite clay, zeolites, wood dust, and carbon black; c) benzoic acid and derivatives thereof; and d) deodorizing materials that have a Malodor Reduction Value (MORV) of at least 0.5.
