The invention relates to a reverse stranding apparatus for the reverse stranding of conductors (2) to produce cables or the like and to a method in connection with stranding and reverse stranding. In the invention, the conductors (2) are drawn from a distributor means into a nozzle or equivalent through peripheral tubes (6) circumferentially surrounding a central tube and being twistable about the central tube recurrently in opposite directions. To facilitate the passage of the conductor, a pressurized fluid is fed through the peripheral tube (6) upstream ends into the peripheral tubes during the drawing of the conductors (2) to produce oscillation, whereby the conductor (2) passing through each peripheral tube (6) remains substantially detached from the inner surface of the peripheral tube.

Method of lubricating steel cable wherein the steel cable is drawn through a chamber containing lubricant under pressure. The chamber has an outlet and an inlet lined with rubber sleeves through which the cable passes. A liquid lubricant is utilized, preferably a lubricating oil, which is supplied to the chamber by means of a pump having a high delivery pressure, minimum 20 bar and preferably above 40 bar, but with a relatively small delivery capacity. The rate of passage for the steel cable through the chamber is adapted such that the hollow spaces in the steel cable absorb the supplied oil to such an extent that oil leakage is avoided. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a chamber (4) for lubricant under pressure, having an inlet (13) and an outlet (12) for the steel cable (11). A supply hose for lubricant leads to the chamber, and a pressure pump ensures pressure in the lubricant. The pump is a suction pump which can deliver a pressure of at least 20 bar, preferably above 40 bar, but has a small delivery capacity.

Die Schmiermitteleinrichtung (2) rotiert zusammen mit den Verteilerscheiben (4, 5) um eine Rotationsachse (3). Dabei stellt die Schmiermitteleinrichtung (2) Schmiermittel bereit, das durch Schmiermittelleitungen (8, 9) zu den Verteilerscheiben (4, 5) geführt wird und auf zu verseilende Litzen (32) aufgebracht wird. Das Aufbringen des Schmiermittels erfolgt dabei innerhalb von Führungsdurchgängen (12) in der rotierenden Verteilerscheibe (4). Dadurch kann auch ein als Nassschmierstoff ausgestaltetes Schmiermittel auf die Litzen (32) aufgebracht und somit gleichmäßig in das Tragmittel eingebracht werden.
