    摘要： In a steel truss an upper longitudinal beam (12) and a lower longitudinal beam (13) are interconnected at their respective ends by vertical posts (14; 15) and intermediate their ends by a plurality of obliquely extending struts (16; 17) and ties (18; 19), of which each strut and an associated tie intersect substantially midway between the two beams. Each end post (14; 15) is composed of two parts 14', 14"; 15', 15") of substantially equal lengths, which are interconnectable end to end, and each strut (16; 17) and tie (18, 19) is likewise composed of two parts (16', 16"; 17', 17"; 18', 18"; 19', 19"). These parts of each strut and its associated tie are united in a special, common joint including connection plates welded to the strut parts (16', 16"; 17', 17") and having flat end portions of the tie parts (18', 18"; 19', 19") interposed between them.

    摘要： A method is provided of erecting an arch-like structure comprising means (12), base plates (14), connectors (16) and purlins (18) or cross bracings. The method involves attaching a first beam (12a) to the base plate (14) by means of a first bolt (20) only with the beam (12a) lying on the ground. The end of the first beams (12a) is lifted sufficiently to allow the connection thereto of the second beam (12b) and this process is repeated with subsequent beams (12c) through to the last beam (12d). The whole operation is carried out on the ground and the arch rises into the air. A connector is described as is a base connector. A beam including a box section on either side of a profiled web is described along with variations thereof and a light weight structure which can be converted to a trailable vehicle and which includes the principle of the invention is also described.

    摘要： The invention is a building arch for use in constructing a frame for a building. An arch comprises several rigid strut units (1,2,3,4) each having two spaced booms (OB, IB) in pin-jointed connection with one another. One boom (OB or IB) of each unit is pin jointed directly to one boom of a successive unit to form a chain, and the other boom (IB or OB) of each same unit is connected to the other boom of the same successive unit by way of a link (7) pin jointed to the said other booms to form another chain. Arches of different contours may be formed using strut units of the same dimensions by varying the number of strut units employed and by employing links of different lengths.
