    摘要: An internal combustion engine (1) may include a combustion chamber (41) into which a mixture (40) of fuel and air is supplied, a spark plug (50) disposed proximate to the combustion chamber (41) to ignite the mixture (40) by generating a spark such that ignition of the mixture drives a piston (6) operably coupled to a crank portion (12) of the engine (1), a speed sensor (102) configured to determine engine speed, and an electronic control unit (100) configured to control operation of the spark plug (50). The electronic control unit (100) may be configured to initiate a speed limitation operation in response to engine speed reaching a cut out speed threshold and to control ignition timing within an operating band (320) of ignition angles prior to engine speed reaching the cut out speed threshold. The speed limitation operation may include skipping application of sparks. The electronic control unit (100) is further configured to apply a changed ignition angle (330) relative to the operating band (320) for first at least one spark initiated after the speed limitation operation.

    摘要: An apparatus for controlling an internal combustion engine has an amount-of-intake-air control unit for generating a command value for the opening of a flow control valve in an intake passage of the engine, which emits exhaust gases through a catalytic converter, so as to increase an amount of intake air introduced into a combustion chamber by a predetermined quantity greater when the engine operates in an idling mode after it has started to operate than when the engine operates in a normal idling mode, and controlling the opening of the flow control valve based on the generated command value, and an ignition timing control unit for controlling the ignition timing according to a feedback control process to correct the ignition timing so as to be retarded in order to converge the rotational speed of the engine to a predetermined target rotational speed while the amount of intake air is being increased. The amount-of-intake-air control unit successively acquires amount-of-heat data representing the amount of heat energy actually given to the catalytic converter by exhaust gases flowing into said catalytic converter while the amount of intake air is being increased, and corrects the command value for the opening of said flow control valve according to a feedback control process in order to converge the acquired amount-of-heat data to a predetermined target value representing an amount of heat energy to be given to said catalytic converter.

    摘要: A centrifugal advance mechanism has a plurality of rotating weights (5) which travel under centrifugal force outwardly from an axis of a driving shaft (1) against the action of resilient means (11) urging the weights inwardly. The weights carry driving cam members (6) which interact by cam action with a driven cam member (8) which is thereby driven in rotation by the weights. The relative rotational position of the driven cam member (8) and the driving shaft (1) is thus determined by the radial position of the weights relative to the driving shaft (1). To improve performance of the mechanism under rapid rotational speed fluctuations, by means of the geometry of the weights (5) and the interacting cam surfaces of the driving and driven cam members (6,8), the inertial force of (a) the weights (5) and (b) the driven cam member (8) arising upon angular deceleration of the driving shaft (1) is controlled so as to have no outward action on the weights (5) over at least a part of the outward travel of the weights.
