摘要: The miniature self-controlled musical system (10) includes a plurality of musical instrument assemblies including a drummer (11), a bass guitar (12), a guitar (16) and a turntablist (18). Each assembly represents the selected material instrument and includes a processor/storage member (22) for storing musical sounds associated with the musical instrument for a particular preprogrammed song. Each musical assembly also includes a speaker member (30) for playing the musical sounds and a control switch (28) for controlling the on-off status of the musical instrument assembly. The system also includes initiating control (selection) elements on each musical assembly for selecting one musical instrument assembly as a master assembly member for a particular pre-recorded song and means for communicating control information from the selected master assembly to the remaining musical assemblies to play the particular song.

摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for simultaneously outputting digital audio and MIDI synthesised music utilising a single digital signal processor. The Musical Instrumert Digital Interface (MIDI) permits music to be recorded and/or synthesised utilising a data file containing multiple serially listed program status messages and matching note on and note off messages. In contrast, digital audio is generally merely compressed, utilising a suitable data compression technique, and recorded. The audio content of such a digital recording may then be restored by decompressing the recorded data and converting that data utilising a digital-to-analog convertor. The method and apparatus of the present invention selectively and alternatively couples portions of a compressed digital audio file and a MIDI file to a single digital signal processor which alternately decompresses the digital audio file and implements a MIDI synthesiser. Decompressed audio and MIDI synthesised music are then alternately coupled to two separate buffers. The contents of these buffers are then additively mixed and coupled through a digital-to-analog convertor to an audio output device to create an output having concurrent digital audio and MIDI synthesised music.

摘要: The device generates an audio signal from a sound source (4) using a MIDI signal. The music data consists of many pieces of music stored in a memory device like a database in an on-line host computer or an external magneto-optical disc (2). The music generation processing operations are carried out by 2 microprocessors (21,22), each assigned a different set of functions to speed up the overall processing. The receipt and transfer of data to the sound source (4) from the sequencer (3) is carried out in parallel. The data is subsequently output in parallel and the contents of the buffer are monitored constantly to prevent overflow malfunctions. Clock time is divided to enable the generation of trigger signals to control tempo. By variation of the timing of tee trigger signals in accordance with tempo data taken from the data stream, the tempo can be varied while reducing the reproduction time processing load.
