摘要: A power supply for an image intensifier of a night vision device is disclosed. The power supply comprises a battery, a memory, and a processor. The processor is configured to turn off a switch via which a voltage is supplied to a photocathode of the image intensifier in response to current drawn by an anode of the image intensifier. The processor is further configured to store, as a stored voltage value, a value of the voltage in the memory. The processor is further configured to turn on the switch and re-apply a voltage to the photocathode in accordance with the stored voltage value after a first predetermined period of time. The processor is further configured to enable an automatic brightness control procedure using the stored voltage value.

摘要: Fluorescent type lamps (24a-24n) are arranged to have frequency power delivered from standard, commercial A.C. sources (10) either directly or from power levels distributed from a master ballast (20). When the master ballast is employed, it functions as an interface between the primary power source and a distribution network to one or more modules so as to relieve the modules of operations such as initial power form conversions, filtering and power factor correcting which requires large components. The module or modules driven by the master ballast output are contained within the lamp envelope or attached as an extension of the lamp envelope. The module is formed of elements mounted as a miniaturized unit configured to fit within the lamp envelope or to attach to the end of the envelope. The module includes oscillator components mounted on an elongated board so as to form an assembly with a cross section compatible with the perimeter of the envelope itself. The module can operate independent of a master ballast unit by including power handling circuitry within the module.

摘要: The high voltage power supply (2) of an image intensifier (3) is operated intermittently to minimise the effect on the intensified image of interference produced by the power supply (2), the input capacitance of the intensifier maintaining the high voltage at an acceptable level when the power supply (2) is not operating. When used in conjunction with a video camera, the power supply (2) may be allowed to operate only during the frame synch and/or line synch periods. A shutter may inhibit operation of the image intensifier (3) whilst its power supply is operating.

摘要: In order to reduce the interference radiation radiated by a colour television tube during operation, a resistor (19,12, 36) of approximately 5 kOhm to 100 kOhm is incorporated between the shadow mask (11, 20, 30) and the metal backing (9, 21, 35) of the display screen. The electromagnetic energy radiated by the tube in the frequency band of approximately 150 kHzto 1.5 MHz is reduced by 4 to 6 dB by such a resistor.
