    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for conducting broadcast, multipoint, and conference communications in a TDMA network at various data rates while simultaneously conducting point-to-point communications at other data rates, either between local ports or between geographically remote ports during time intervals within a TDMA burst, which are not necessarily predefined. The disclosed apparatus appends a direct destination address to each point-to-point port communication for transmission over a communications link, to directly address the intended destination port. The disclosed invention appends an indirect destination address to each broadcast communication transmitted over the communications link. A broadcast memory (375) is provided at the receiving end of the communications link, for storing correlated direct addresses which are accessed by the indirect destination addresses, to directly address a plurality of intended destination ports. In this manner, both point-to-point and broadcast-type communications can be carried out for a variety of data rates, during time intervals which are not predetermined within the TDMA burst, and with a high degree of connectivity.

    摘要: A broadcasting station transmits in succession many independent information packets to a plurality of receiving sets. An information packet comprises a text, a classification code and a distinction code. Text is a sequence of words and symbols which can be converted to recognisable speech information. The classification code indicates the substance of text. A distinction code can be annexed to each different text. A receiving set with registered classification codes selects and accumulates only required information packets according to their code. A receiver can view or listen to the speech informations at a convenient time.

    摘要: An audio program is encoded with a subaudible binary code. A first value bit (mark) is a first frequency signal and a second value bit (space) is a second frequency signal. The coded message includes an initialization period constituted by a signal having the mark frequency. In decoding, the mark and space signals are detected through first and second band pass filters specific to the mark and space signal frequencies. The mark and space frequencies are sufficiently different to permit separate filtering. The time duration for each bit of the code is substantial. The decoder through a phase locked loop and integrator reads the bit on the basis of the average value of the bit over the duration of the bit. A synchronization signal provides for synchronous reading of the code. This signal that initiates the decoding operation is generated only in response to the coincident detection of the initialization signal, the notch and a mark response at the phase locked loop.

By controlling the transmission of the modes to have constant time intervals, which can be selected based upon different sampling times, high quality audio signals may be transmitted or/and data channels or monaural audio signals, all of which may be transmitted over the single cable television transmission line.
