In the display device, at least one of the scanning electrode and signal electrode drive circuits comprises a plurality of plural-input/one-output electronic switches (S x1 , ..., S x6 ; S Y1 , ..., Syg) each including a plurality of one-input/one-output switches (S x11 , S X12 , ...; S Y11 , S Y12 , ...) associated with one electrode which are the same in number as three or more kinds of DC voltage signals and which are connected in parallel to independently receive each of the DC voltage signals and transmit it to the one electrode.

摘要： The present invention relates to an improved driving method capable of achieving high-quality display even in simple matrix addressing for a ferroelectric liquid crystal matrix panel at a high multiplex ratio. Pulses of a frequency higher than that of a scanning voltage in an addressed condition are applied to a scanning electrode in a non-addressed condition to gain either surface stabilizing effect or AC field stabilizing effect, hence ensuring high-contrast display. And the panel is so driven that the temporal average of the voltage applied to each pixel becomes zero, thereby averting deterioration of the liquid crystal.
