Each time it is activated the rotary surface and the two plates (10) complete a 180° rotation about an axis (9a) of symmetry which is transversal to said longitudinal axis (10a) coinciding with the direction of entry into the trapping corridor (7).

A trap for assisting in controlling pest populations, in particular rodents, and especially rats and/or mice, including: a lower housing, and a false floor including a trapdoor, and a ramp, wherein the lower housing has a lower end that sits on the ground and an upper end. The false floor is attached to the upper end of the lower housing. The trapdoor is triggered to suddenly collapse when the rodent places a sufficient amount of its body weight onto the trapdoor. The ramp leads up from ground level to the false floor so that when in use, a suitable liquid or gas is contained within the lower housing, and a suitable bait is placed on the false floor to attract a rodent and maneuver it onto the trapdoor. The rodent is able to easily climb up to the false floor by way of the ramp, and when the rodent moves towards the bait, and places sufficient weight upon the trapdoor, the trapdoor suddenly collapses under it, thereby causing it to drop into the lower housing, wherein the rodent drowns in the liquid, or suffocates in the gas.

An electronic or electronic animal trap wherein the housing includes a pair of spaced electrodes or charge plates in a killing chamber intermediate the trap entrance and a source of bait. When used in association with an inclined plane trap, the effectiveness of the electrocuting circuitry is enhanced. Alternative embodiments of the electric or electronic trap interpose at least one diverter in the pathway to the electrodes which discourages a target animal from reversing direction before it is electrocuted. In one embodiment, juxtaposed to the entrance are at least two diverter members angularly offset relative to each other to define a maze-like path to lead a target animal to the charge plates for electrocution while discouraging reversal of direction and protecting against direct access to the charge plates through the entrance opening by children, pets or non-target species. A diverter or barrier plate may be carried by the housing cover or side wall to extend into the space between the electrodes when the cover is closed, the lower edge of the barrier being spaced from the housing floor a limiited distance to force a target animal to squeeze under the barrier as it passes to the second electrode making escape before electrocution difficult. This design may be utilized in combination with a spaced, upwardly extending diverter or barrier plate to block direct access to the pair of electrodes from the entrance opening. The effectiveness of an inclined plane trap assembly may also be enhanced by a plate carried by the cover which forces a target animal to stretch itself out before engaging the second electrode.

The apparatus (10) has a killing chamber (12) an electric accumulator, a high voltage transformer (42), three electrode plates (31-33) located in the killing chamber (12) and connectable to the high voltage transformer (42), and three stationary electrical contacts (51-53). A rotor (20) having a horizontal rotating shaft (16) and four orthogonal axial walls (21-24), each with three electrode plates (31, 32, 33) arranged consecutively in an axial direction, can be locked in four predetermined angular positions in each of which one of the four axial walls (21-24) is horizontal and has the three electrode plates (31-33) facing the killing chamber (12). Each axial wall (21-24) of the rotor has three movable electrical contacts (61-63) that are each connected to a respective one of the three electrode plates (31-33). The three movable contacts on a same one of the axial walls are temporarily and simultaneously connectable to respective stationary electrical contacts (51-53) when the axial wall is horizontal.

In Reaktion mit der Flüssigkeit (6) bildet die Tablette (5) ein für das Kleintier tödliches Gas. Um die Herstellung und die Wartung einer derartigen Falle zu vereinfachen, wird vorgeschlagen, daß die Einwurfeinrichtung eine schwenkbare Tragplatte (4) aufweist, auf welche die Tablette (5) auflegbar ist, daß die Tragplatte (4) in dem Flüssigkeitstank (16) über der Flüssigkeit (6) angeordnet ist, und daß die Tragplatte (4) nach oder gemeinsam mit der Eingangsklappe (3) kippbar ist, um das Einwerfen der Tablette (5) in die Flüssigkeit (6) zu bewirken, wobei die Schwenkbewegung der Tragplatte (4) direkt oder indirekt an die Schwenkbewegung der Eingangsklappe (3) gekoppelt ist.
