摘要: A utilities tube assembly (200) including one or more utilities tubes (200A, 200B, 200C). The one or more utilities tubes (200A, 200B, 200C) each include at least a first tube (302, 304, 306) and a second tube (302, 304, 306), where each of the first and second tubes (302, 304, 306) include a base material having a specified mechanical characteristic; and a weld interface (410) proximate an end of each of the first and second tubes (302, 304, 306). One or more of the utilities tubes (200) includes work hardened weld assemblies (310A) joining the first and second tubes (302, 304, 306) at the respective ends. The work hardened weld assemblies (310A) include: a weld fusion zone (406) between weld interfaces (410) of the first and second tubes (302, 304, 306). In a welded configuration (310A) the first and second tubes (302, 304, 306) proximate the respective ends have an end profile different relative to an overall profile of the first and second tubes, the weld interfaces are stacked between the weld fusion zone and the base material of the respective first or second tubes; and in a work hardened configuration the respective ends of the first and second tubes (302, 304), having the end profile, are deformed relative to the welded configuration to match the overall profile of the first and second tubes (302, 304), the weld fusion zone and the weld interfaces are deformed into the base material, the weld interfaces are deformed between the stacked weld fusion zone and the base material of the first and second tubes, and the weld fusion zone is work hardened and the weld interfaces of the first and second tubes are work hardened between the work hardened weld fusion zone and the base material of the first and second tubes based on the deformation of the weld fusion zone.

摘要: A method for evaluating susceptibility to liquid metal embrittlement cracking in a resistance spot welded portion of a steel sheet that enables highly accurate and quantitative evaluation is provided. The method includes: overlapping a first steel sheet and a second steel sheet, one or both of which are galvanized steel sheets, without an intervening gap to obtain a sheet combination, sandwiching the sheet combination between a pair of electrodes having an axial direction perpendicular to main surfaces of the first steel sheet and the second steel sheet, and applying current and pressure via the electrodes to perform resistance spot welding; applying one or both of bending strain and tensile strain controlled to a defined amount of strain to a welded portion of the second steel sheet at the same time as or after the end of the current application of the resistance spot welding; then observing the welded portion of the second steel sheet to ascertain the presence or absence of liquid metal embrittlement cracking as an observation result; and evaluating susceptibility to liquid metal embrittlement cracking in the welded portion of the second steel sheet based on the observation result.
