The present disclosure relates to a porous polymer and a method for preparing the same, a catalyst, and a method for preparing adiponitrile. The porous polymer according to the present disclosure has a pore volume of 0.3 to 2.5cm 3 /g; the porous polymer comprises a pore having a first pore diameter and a pore having a second pore diameter, and a ratio of a pore volume of the pore having a first pore diameter to a pore volume of the pore having a second pore diameter is 1 to 10:1, preferably 2 to 8:1, the porous polymer is obtained by self-polymerization or copolymerization of at least one of the phosphorus ligands, and a phosphorous content of the porous polymer is 1 to 5 mmol/g. The porous polymer-nickel catalyst made of the porous polymer according to the present disclosure has a significant increase in water resistance, which may reduce the consumption of phosphorus ligands, eliminating the steps of removing water from raw materials and reaction system water control, which greatly saves process equipment investment. Moreover, when it is used in the preparation of adiponitrile from butadiene, it has high catalytic activity, high reaction selectivity, and high linearity and is easy to recover and recycle.

The present invention provides fast drying aqueous compositions, suitable for use in making roadway markings, as well as the road markings made therefrom, the compositions comprising one or more anionically stabilized binder having a phosphorus acid functional polymer component having a glass transition temperature (Tg) range of from -30°C to 60°C and a polyfunctional amine component in combination with one or more volatile base in an amount sufficient to stabilize the composition by at least partially deprotonating the polyfunctional amine, and one or more phosphorus acid surfactant, such as an alkyl ethoxylated phosphate. Further, the present invention provides two component compositions comprising the above composition as one component and a second component comprising an absorber and/or the polyfunctional amine component. The fast-drying compositions are viscosity stable and provide wear resistant fast dry coatings even in humid application conditions.

The present invention provides a non-toxic water soluble, inorganic anti-microbial polymer for inactivating microorganisms. The polymer is obtained by forming an aqueous solution comprising alkali metal cations, phosphate anions, carbonate anions, and hydrogen ions. The polymer has antimicrobial activity while in suspension and forms a hard, contiguous, encapsulating antimicrobial transparent film when dry. The film physically disrupts encapsulated microorganisms as it is formed and once formed does not support surface microbial growth.

The invention provides a flame retardant material which comprises a flame retardant polymer emulsion obtained by the polymerisation of at least one unsaturated monomer comprising at least one phosphorus atom. Preferably, said monomer is copolymerised with at least one co-monomer. The flame retardant material may be used for the preparation of flame retardant formulations which find particular application in the preparation of intumescent coatings, back coating layers for fabrics, flame retardant finishes for wood, textile fibres and polymer castings. The flame retardant materials of the invention show significant advantages over the materials of the prior art in terms of ease and cost of preparation and with regard to health, safety and environmental considerations.
