The present invention can provide light-colored magnetic particles having a zirconium oxide coating layer formed on a magnetic core, and having a silver coating layer formed on the zirconium oxide coating layer, and a part of the surface of the zirconium oxide coating layer is exposed to the outside, but chemical resistance is excellent, and thus the magnetic particles hardly cause a change of magnetic characteristics so as to be suitable for security elements.

Coating compositions comprising perfluoroalkyl metallo and non-metallo perfluoro-phthalocyanine compounds and associated coating methods are provided by the present invention. Perfluoroalkyl metallo and non-metallo perfluoro-phthalocyanine compounds are suitable for use as functional coatings and may be optionally combined with conductive polymers. The functional properties imparted generally include one or more of chemical resistance, thermal resistance, biological and chemical non-stick surface behavior, electrochromism, variable electromagnetic field signatures, and/or non-linear optical properties. Advantages of the disclosed perfluoroalkyl metallo and non-metallo perfluoro-phthalocyanine coatings include the fact that an inert uninterrupted fluorinated surface provides for improved hydrophobic properties at the periphery while exhibiting improved hydrophilicity at the center, which in turn results in one or more of the following properties: variable optical, electric and magnetic properties; enhanced durability; and enhanced resistance to chemical and biological surface contamination.

This invention relates to a magnetic paint for application to walls, partitions, building materials and the like and to walls coated with the magnetic paint. The invention also relates to magnetic building materials. Accordingly, the present invention consists in a coating composition comprising a film-forming resin emulsion, and a magnetic material dispersed in the emulsion in a proportion such that a dry cured coating of the composition on a non-magnetic substrate is capable of holding a magnet by magnetic attraction when substantially vertical. In preferred embodiments of the invention, the magnetic material is magnetite and is dispersed in the aqueous phase of the emulsion. Desirably, the magnetite is present in a quantity such that a 50 x 50 mm flexible magnet will not only remain attached to a vertical or inverted dried film of the composition, but will also support in excess of 25 g, more preferably in excess of 30 g, against gravity.
