    摘要: An outboard engine system includes a casing (1) and an engine (E) mounted in an upper part of the casing. The casing also contains a torque converter (T), and vertically arranged output shaft (20) connected to a crankshaft (17) through the torque converter.
    In the torque converter, a turbine runner (26) is arranged above a pump impeller (25) and connected to the output shaft, and a transmission cover (29) is connected to an outer periphery of the pump impeller so as to cover an upper surface of the turbine runner. A drive plate (31) is secured an its central portion to a lower end of the crankshaft by a first bolt (32 1 ), and an outer peripheral portion of the drive plate is secured to the transmission cover by a second bolt (32 2 ). The torque converter is suspended from the crankshaft via the drive plate. Thus, it is possible to provide an outboard engine system which enables support of a torque converter without using any bearing exclusively for supporting the overall weight of the torque converter, thereby reducing the cost.

    摘要: Among first and second stators (40, 41) of a torque converter supported on a fixed part by a one-way clutch corresponding to the stators, the number of second stator blades (46) of the second stator (41) on the downstream side in the direction of flow of oil is larger than the number of first blades (42) of the first stator (40) on the upstream side, and the maximum value t2 for blade thickness of the second stator blade (46) is smaller than the minimum value t1 for blade thickness of the first stator blade (42). Therefore, it is possible to ensure that there is a sufficient gap (²) between a trailing edge (42b) of the first stator blade (42) and a leading edge (46a) of the second stator blade (46), thus preventing the flow of oil from being stopped by the gap (²), and it is possible to align effectively the flow of oil by means of the second stator blades (46), which are larger in number, thereby achieving a balance between improvement of the torque ratio and improvement of the capacity coefficient of the torque converter.
