Abstract:
Drive units for a data medium, e.g. a CD or a DVD, generally comprise a turntable and a clamp. It would be advantageous to provide a drive unit having an improved torque 5 transmission from the rotatable parts of the drive unit to the disc. It would also be desirable to allow a better guiding of the disc into a centered position around the axis of rotation from the supporting surface. To better address one or more of these concerns, an embodiment of the invention provides a drive unit for a data medium, comprising a turntable and a clamp for clamping a data medium onto the turntable, wherein the turntable 10 and the clamp can be moved with respect to each other from an unclamped to a clamped position, and, in the clamped position, the turntable and the clamp comprise a form-fit torque transmission between them.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for transferring at least one toner image from a toner support tape (10) to a toner material (22). Said toner support tape (10) is guided in such a manner that the tape tension remains constant during the swiveling movement of a roller system (13).
Abstract:
A data storage and retrieval device utilizes a data cartridge recording and playback apparatus and has storage magazines for holding a plurality of data cartridges for use by the recording and playback apparatus. The storage magazines have slots for storing the data cartridges and retaining the data cartridges in place when not being accessed using a cartridge latch. A spring moves the cartridge to an eject position upon release of the cartridge latch. Similarly, the storage magazines have a latch to secure the magazine in place and to selectively release the magazine when desired. The spring loaded ejection apparatus for the magazines is damped to provide slowed movement during the ejection of the magazine. Further, a catch secures the magazine in a partially ejected position to permit exchange of one or a limited number of the cartridges without complete removal of the magazine from the device, and preferably without halting the operation of the device.
Abstract:
A system and method of playing recorded content on a DVD player employs software instructions on a DVD storage medium to control a DVD-Video player to make pseudo-random selections of content items from the DVD storage medium. Each content item may include an individual video sequence or a string of video sequences. Each content item is associated with a respective identification codes, such that each content item is associated with a corresponding identification code that is different from the identification codes of other content items. The DVD player controller is controlled to select, by pseudo-random selection or generation, at least one of the identification codes from the plurality of identification codes. The DVD player controller maybe controlled to perform that pseudo-random selection or generation with software stored on (and read from) the DVD storage medium.
Abstract:
Information-processing apparatus acquires unique identification (unique ID) from MiniDisc (MD) medium having an individual-information-recording area. Network server administers characteristic information of each of the MD media. The information-processing apparatus then acquires from the network server the characteristic information corresponding to the MD medium that has been identified according to the unique ID. The information-processing apparatus optimizes its servo characteristic according to the characteristic information to record or reproduce the information.
Abstract:
An information recording apparatus comprising image signal processing units for processing image signals from an image taking unit for recording with respect a magnetic tape and a microcomputer for recording, when abnormality occurs in the recording with respect to the magnetic tape due to abnormality in the image signal processing units, information relating to the recording abnormality in a blank recording region of the magnetic tape together with actual time information.
