Voltages (Vdc1, Vdc2) applied between ground plane and conductive pad, and between conductive pad and bias line, respectively, switch the microstrip ON or OFF by means of ion migration between the electrolyte, acting as ion source, and the EC region. The switch may be incorporated in RF devices such as attenuators, phase shifters, and antennas.
