    摘要： A method of encoding video data by an electronic device is provided. A block unit is determined from an image frame according to the video data. An intra prediction mode and one of a plurality of reference lines of the block unit is selected. A line index indicating the selected one of the plurality of reference lines of the block unit is encoded into a bitstream. The method further determines whether the selected one of the plurality of reference lines of the block unit is a first reference line. A mode flag is encoded into the bitstream only when the selected one of the plurality of reference lines of the block unit is the first reference line adjacent to the block unit and included in the plurality of reference lines. A mode index is encoded into the bitstream for directly selecting the intra prediction mode of the block unit from a most probable mode (MPM) list of the block unit when the mode flag is not encoded in the bitstream. The mode flag is encoded to determine, for selecting the intra prediction mode, whether the intra prediction mode is selected from the MPM list or from a plurality of remaining intra prediction mode candidates, when the selected one of the plurality of reference lines of the block unit is the first reference line.
