Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to adjust luminance in a wider range in the case where a light source is periodically turned on and turned off and the luminance of the light source is adjusted by varying the ratio of a light-on period to a light-off period.SOLUTION: A projector 1 comprises: a projection part 20 having a light modulation device 22 configured to modulate the light of three colors, R, G, and B, and a light source part 21 with laser light sources 42 and 43; laser light source drivers 40 and 41 configured to supply pulse currents S7 and S8 to the laser light sources 42 and 43; and a light emission control part 18 configured to set the periods of the pulse currents S7 and S8 and the on-period of a pulse, according to luminance. When the luminance of the laser light source 42 or 43 is set to such a luminance that the on-period of the pulse current is shorter than a set lower limit, the light emission control part 18 sets the on-period of the pulse current of the laser light source to the lower limit or greater, and thus decreases the current value of the pulse current of the laser light source.
Abstract:
A display device includes: an image display means for displaying left-eye images and right-eye images alternately; a light-shielding means for generating an effect of binocular parallax in images displayed by the image display means; and a detection means for detecting a position of an observer, wherein the light-shielding means includes an image transmitting portion through which images of the image display means are transmitted and an image non-transmitting portion through which images are not transmitted, which moves a position of the image transmitting portion by ½, ¼ or ⅛ of a light-shielding portion pitch prescribed by an arrangement interval of the image transmitting portion based on a detected result of the detection means.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device to which a TFT arrangement is applied in which a margin for an alignment in forming SOI layers is wide, and deterioration of an aperture ratio is suppressed in the displacement when a TFT substrate and a counter substrate are bonded to each other.SOLUTION: A plurality of TFTs that control sub-pixels are arranged in a manner so as to surround an intersection part of a scanning line and a signal line so that the distance between regions where TFTs are arranged is expanded. Since the distance between regions where the TFTs are arranged is expanded, as compared with the conventional arrangement in which TFTs are arranged at constant intervals in a display part, formation of the TFTs over a joint between adjacent SOI layers can be avoided.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods and systems for processing image data made up of a series of frames for displaying on a dual modulation display system having a first modulator disposed to illuminate a second modulator, wherein a first modulation signal and a luminance map are not calculated for every frame. Instead, certain frames referred to as “key frames” are used to provide the first modulation signal and the luminance map for a plurality of other frames.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce, when correction of image signals is performed, the occurrence of an additional decrease in image quality in the image signals after the correction.SOLUTION: A display device calculates a correction value for each block obtained by dividing image signals to be displayed into a plurality of blocks on the basis of the image signals in each of the blocks, and on the basis of the correction values of one of the plurality of blocks and blocks around the one block, determines the correction value of the one block. The display device corrects the image signals by using the determined correction value for each of the plurality of blocks.
Abstract:
A two-image display apparatus includes: a display panel in which each sub-pixel for displaying a first image and each sub-pixel for displaying a second image are placed alternately at positions adjacent to each other; and a light shielding barrier having apertures for allowing the first and second images displayed in a first visual recognition direction and a second visual recognition direction respectively to be distinguished from each other, wherein the center of each of the apertures is shifted from the center between two-image areas allocated to two the adjacent sub-pixels respectively toward the side of the second visual recognition direction, and there is also provided a correction light shielding section configured to narrow an image area allocated on the side of the first visual recognition direction to serve as the image area provided for one of the adjacent sub-pixels.
