Abstract: In a knee protection system according to the present invention, a knee protection panel is driven from a standby position surrounded by an interior member to the vehicle rear side to a knee-protecting position in front of the knees of an occupant by a drive mechanism when the vehicle is crashing, whereby the knees moving forward are protected by the knee protection panel thus driven. The drive mechanism includes a holding portion for holding the knee protection panel in such a manner that the knee protection panel is moved rearward. Engagement portions are provided, respectively, at locations where the holding portion and the knee protection panel connect with each other in such a manner as to be brought into engagement with each other. These engagement portions are brought into engagement with each other when the holding portion is moved rearward due to the activation of the drive mechanism in such a manner as to prevent displacement of the knee protection panel relative to the holding portion while moving the knee protection panel rearward, as well as allowing the knee protection panel to be displaced vertically and horizontally relative to the holding portion prior to the activation of the drive mechanism. With the knee protection system according to the invention, the knee protection panel can be disposed at the standby position so as to have a visually attractive break with the surrounding interior member, without deteriorating mounting work efficiency.

Abstract: An actuator (32) of an active knee bolster (24) is provided with a drive force generation device (38) and a one way lock mechanism (40) that is disposed in the vicinity of an operation end of the drive force generation device (38). The one way lock mechanism (40) is configured such that, if attempted movement of a piston member (42) in an inward insertion direction occurs, respective engagement portions (64) are moved to a taper portion (62B) by urging force of a spring (66), whereby the engagement portions (64) are abutted against an external periphery surface of the piston member (42) such that the piston member (42) and the engagement portions (64) are fixed. Accordingly, as a result of the one way lock mechanism (40), a main body (30) of the active knee bolster (24) that has been moved to a restraining position cannot return in a vehicle forward direction, and thus it is possible to generate a substantial restraining force that restrains a lower limb (28A) of an occupant (28).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat capable of enlarging the vertical strokes of a load receiving member such as a plane spring in a seat with a displacement sensor. A wire rope 35 is wound around the pulley 34 as a pulling member, and it is pulled out from the bottom side of the pulley 34 obliquely upward and connected to the plane spring 15. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protecting device enabling a shock absorbing member to effectively absorbing shock. SOLUTION: A frame 36 fixed on a moving frame 30 supports a restraining member 48 and the moving frame 30 and the frame 36 are moved rearward to arrange the restraining member 48 just in front of knees of an occupant in collision of a vehicle in an active knee bolster 10. Consequently, the frame 36 is deformed by receiving impact on the restraining member 48 from the knees of the occupant and the shock is absorbed. A lateral extension part 38 is extended to a right side or a left side and the longitudinal extension part 42 is extended upward from a tip of the lateral extension part 38 in the frame 36. Consequently, the frame 36 is not only mainly elastically deformed at the longitudinal extension part 42 to absorb the shock but also torsionally deformed at the lateral extension part 38 to absorb the shock. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protector capable of securing a protection area to be large and exactly protecting the knee of a driver. SOLUTION: The knee protector S is arranged under a steering column 6 on the front side of the knee K of the sitting driver MD, a restraining body 44 connected with a driving mechanism 52 is moved to the back side of the vehicle in operating the driving mechanism 52, and the knee K is protected by the surface on the vehicle back side of the restraining body 44. The steering column 6 has a column body 7 and a column cover 10 arranged so as to cover the periphery of the column body 7. The column cover 10 has a downside cover section 15 for covering the driver MD side on the downside of the column body 7. The lower end proximity of the downside cover section 15 is connected with the proximity of the upper end of the restraining body 44, and the downside cover section 15 can be moved to the back side of the vehicle together with the restraining body 44 in operating the driving mechanism 52.
