    Abstract: PURPOSE:To keep the surface activity and surface antistaining effect of wax, by employing the combination of a process for baking a surface before and after the execution of wax coating and a process for cleaning said surface in water after a definite period to remove the substance adhered to said surface. CONSTITUTION:The surface of concrete is cleaned by a sander prior to coating wax and subsequently baked a large-sized kerosene burner to burn an organism residue to form a surface easy to apply wax. Next, the wax is sprayed to the treated surface of concrete and, further, the surface thereof is baked. By this treatment, the fine particles of the wax adhered to the treated surface is melted and the wax is also melted again to be penetrated in the fine voids of concrete; therefor, adhesive strength of the wax is enhanced and the surface of concrete becomes smooth. After the coating of the wax, the surface of concrete is cleaned within a period from a half year to one year by a water jet or submerged disc sander and this treatment is periodically repeated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the abrasion resistance of a metal, by coating the surface of the metal with a material which melts and generates blow holes by heating at high temperature, and irradiating the surface with laser beam, thereby easily forming a porous layer on the metal surface, and imparting oil-retaining characteristics to the surface. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a metal 1 is coated with a coating material 2 which generates a number of blow holes by sudden heating at high temperature, and irradiated with a high-intensity laser beam 3 to form a porous layer having a number of pores and to impart oil-retainability to the surface layer. Since the laser beam irradiation has a hardening effect, the porous layer thus obtained has improved hardness and abrasion resistance. The heat-exchanging efficiency is also improved, and the metal thus treated is useful as a boiling heat transfer wall of a boiler, etc.
