Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide sufficient small sharp turn performance, by a method wherein two support arms are positioned eccentrically from the axis of a wheel support member, the one is so coupled to a car body as to allow slewing of the support arm, and the other is laterally moved by means of an actuator. CONSTITUTION:A suspension 20 causes two support arms 21 and 22 to be positioned eccentrically from an axis L1 of a wheel support member 22, and the rear support arm 22 is so coupled to a car body 10 that it can be slewed and laterally moved. When pressure oil is fed to a right chamber R1 or a left chamber R2 of a hydraulic cylinder 40 in linkage with operation of a front wheel steering device, a piston 42 or a rod 43 is moved, a rear support arm 22 and a wheel support member 23 are moved rightward or leftward, and a right rear wheel RW is steered in linkage with steering of a front wheel. In this case, a left rear wheel is also steered in a similar manner described above. This enables provision of sufficient small sharp turn performance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve cornering performance by making it possible to sway a lever connected via an actuator to the chassis in the lateral direction thereby making it possible to move a suspension support arm in the lateral direction. CONSTITUTION:Lateral steering of a right hand rear wheel RW is performed by the rightward movement of a piston 42 and a rod 43 of a hydraulic cylinder 40 to sway a lever 30 to the right, to move both support arms 21 and 22 as well as a wheel support member 23 to the right, and to tilt at the same time the wheel support member 23 to the left. Here, the rightward movement of the support member 23 of the right hand rear wheel RW which is on the outer side during cornering makes the distance between the vehicle center line CL and the road contact surface of the right hand rear wheel RW longer and at the same time the right hand rear wheel RW, the support member 23, strut, etc. tilt counterclockwise about a strut mount 27. This makes a camber angle of the right hand rear wheel RW change to the negative side and makes the right hand rear wheel stand more firmly on the road resulting in more stabilized driving during cornering.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a spin in a wheel when it performs turning, by holding a transmission so as to prevent a shift down speed change even if a car is accelerated when it is in cornering operation. CONSTITUTION:A transmission is released from holding when a throttle opening S2 decreases less than 1/2 or when acceleration increases larger than the acceleration of a car at a point of time with a steering angle H2 less than 90 deg. and a time change rate H2' of the steering angle less than 45 deg./sec further with a shift down command being inhibited. While the transmission, when its condition is not satisfied, holds the shift down holding by repeating processes from a step 311 to a step 316. Accordingly, spin action of a wheel, when the car is turned, is prevented from being generated with no excessive driving force being applied and with no decrease of a limit of cornering force during turning of the car.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a running controller for vehicle capable of utilizing external information for the running control of a driver's own vehicle, specially, controlling the running of the vehicle based upon information related to a front passage trouble capableof. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle state detecting part 10 detects the running state of the vehicle and a proper inter-vehicle distance calculating part 12 calculates a proper inter-vehicle distance. On the other hand, an external information receiving part 20 receives extrenal information transmitted from the outside of the vehicle and a trouble information extracting part 22 extracts trouble information causing a trouble in the running of the vehicle on a current running road included in the received information. A proper inter-vehicle distance correcting part 24 corrects a proper inter-vehicle distance based upon the sort of an accident/congestion and a distance up to the accident/congestion included in the extracted information.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve safeness at the time of subsequent starting by operating an electric motor when a vehicle is in stopped state and in the state that steering torque is not yet added to a steering wheel, and resetting steering car wheels to a neutral position automatically. CONSTITUTION:In this power steering, there are provided with a car speed sensor 50, a steering torque sensor 52, a steering angle sensor 54, a parking range switch 56, a neutral range switch 58 and a parking brake switch 60, and each detected signal out of these sensors and switches is inputted into a control circuit 48. In this control circuit 48, an electric motor 42 is controlled to generate the assist torque operated on the basis of steering conditions and car speed. When car stoppage is detected, the electric motor 42 is operated in a sense where the detected steering angle comes to zero in such a state that steering torque is not yet added to a steering wheel 26 is detected, and thereby steering wheel can be reset to a neutral position automatically.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce energy loss of a vehicle by stopping the control for rear wheel steering when a front wheel steering is less than a designated value, a rear wheel steering is less than a designated value and the state continues for a preset time within a range where a speed is judged to be intermediate. CONSTITUTION:A rear wheel steering device B is constructed so that a control valve device 24 is driven by a step motor 23 controlled by an electric control device C to control the supply and discharge of oil pressure to a power cylinder 40, thereby steering right and left rear wheels RW1, RW2 through a relay rod 31. The electric control device C has a rear wheel steering control circuit 85 adapted to generate a control signal according to a difference between a target rear wheel steering and an actual rear wheel steering, which are obtained from a target steering ratio and a front wheel steering determined according to a speed. In this case, when the speed is intermediate, a front wheel steering is less than a designated value, a rear wheel steering is less than a designated value, and the state continues for a preset time, the control for rear wheel steering is stopped.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent damage on an actuator by returning a rear wheel somewhat to a direction opposite to a direction refusing steering temporarily due to the wheel being entrapped with a road side stone structure and the like. CONSTITUTION:A rear wheel steering device 'B' has a neutrally energizing mechanism 34 for energizing right and left rear wheels to a neutral condition and a selector valve 35 fitted between a control valve 31 and a power cylinder 33. The neutrally energizing mechanism 34 has right and left stopper members 34a and 34b fixed to a relay rod 26. The external surface of the relay rod 26 is fitted with right and left retainers 34c and 34d in such a way as to pass the rod 26 and be displaceable in the axial direction of the rod 26, and with a spring 34 in such a way as to energize said retainers 34c and 34d in an external direction. The neutrally energizing mechanism 34 has right and left extended portions 34g and 34h prohibiting the displacement of the retainers 34c and 34d externally. The selector valve 35 allows communication between the control valve 31 and the power cylinder 33 via the excitation of a solenoid 35a.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable efficient rear wheel steering control and steering limiting control by providing first and second micro computers for executing each different program for controlling an actuator for rear wheel steering and a steering limiting device. CONSTITUTION:In the device wherein a relay rod 2a is displaced with an actuator 2b thereby steering rear wheels, and the displacement of the relay rod 2a is limited with a steering limiting device 2c thereby restricting rear wheel steering, a speed sensor 3a and front and rear wheel steering angle sensors 3b and 3c are provided. Also, a condition detecting switch 3c is fitted for detecting the limited or limit-released condition of the steering limiting device 2c. Output from said detecting means 3a to 3d is inputted to first and second micro computers 4a and 4b, thereby detecting the running condition of a vehicle and executing each different program for controlling the actuator 2b and the steering limiting device 2c with reference to data read out from a common memory 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately judge the abnormality of a car speed detector, by detecting that the detection data of the car speed detector reaches a definite value or more with respect to the intermediate value of car speed data and this state lasts for a definite time or more. CONSTITUTION:In the vicinities of the output shaft of a transmission and left and right front wheels, rotation sensors 28, 60, 62 are provided and the outputs thereof are supplied to the I/O port 36 of an operation apparatus 34. The operation apparatus 34 constituted of a microcomputer determines a car speed on the basis of the outputs of the aforementioned sensors. The intermediate value of the car speed data of each sensor is preliminarily calculated by ROM and RAM and, when the car speed data of the certain sensor exceeded by a predetermined value or more with respect to the intermediate value and this state continued for a definite time, it is judged that abnormality is generated in said sensor.
