It is determined whether or not an inconsistency exists between detection values Pm1, Pm2 of two pressure sensors 66, 68 for detecting a pressure in the master cylinder 14 and a detection value St of a stroke sensor 70 for detecting a step-in stroke of a brake pedal 12 (S20, 30, 50, 90, 110). A final target deceleration Gt is operated based on the detection values being not inconsistent with each other (S40, 60-80, 100, 120, 140-170) and the braking force of each wheel is controlled based on the final target deceleration Gt (S180, 190).

Respective means M4-M6 correct the target torsion quantity through the adjusting means M1. With this arrangement, controlability can be enhanced.

Means M5 detects a direction of a lateral acceleration of a vehicle. Means M6 calculates a direction of an estimated lateral acceleration of the vehicle according to the vehicle speed and the steering angle. Means M7 determines whether or not the direction of the estimated lateral acceleration differs from that of the detected lateral acceleration. If it is determined that both the directions differ from each other, means M8 outputs to the means M1 a command for retaining the torsional quantity of the stabilizer to a predetermined value.

Means M7 determines whether or not a difference between the estimated lateral acceleration and the detected lateral acceleration is not less than a predetermined value. If it is determined that the difference is not less than the predetermined value, means M8 outputs to the means M1 a command for stopping the change of the torsional quantity to the target torsional quantity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To always properly control a stabilizer by interrupting a change of the stabilizer into its target torsional amount from when a car speed generates its fluctuating rate to a predetermined value or more to when a vehicle is placed in a running condition of low speed or deceleration further with a steering angle in a predetermined value or less. CONSTITUTION:A means M1 adjusts a torsional amount of a stabilizer. While a means M2 detects a car speed further a means M3 detects a steering angle. A means M4 outputs a changing instruction to a target torsional amount determined being based on the car speed and the steering angle, controlling the means M1. In this device, when a fluctuating rate of the car speed detected in a means M5 is decided to be in a predetermined value or more by a means M6, the instruction, output to the means M1 from the means M4, is interrupted in a means M7. On the contrary, when a means M8 decides the car speed to be placed in a running condition of low speed or deceleration further when a means M9 decides the steering angle to be in a predetermined value or less, a means M10 releases the interruption instruction of the means M7 to be reset.
