摘要: A silicon-based sleeve type chemical reaction chamber that combines heaters, such as doped polysilicon for heating, and bulk silicon for convection cooling. The reaction chamber combines a critical ratio of silicon and silicon nitride to the volume of material to be heated (e.g., a liquid) in order to provide uniform heating, yet low power requirements. The reaction chamber will also allow the introduction of a secondary tube (e.g., plastic) into the reaction sleeve that contains the reaction mixture thereby alleviating any potential materials incompatibility issues. The reaction chamber may be utilized in any chemical reaction system for synthesis or processing of organic, inorganic, or biochemical reactions, such as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and/or other DNA reactions, such as the ligase chain reaction, which are examples of a synthetic, thermal-cycling-based reaction. The reaction chamber may also be used in synthesis instruments, particularly those for DNA amplification and synthesis.

摘要: PCT No. PCT/GB95/02488 Sec. 371 Date Sep. 16, 1997 Sec. 102(e) Date Sep. 16, 1997 PCT Filed Oct. 20, 1995 PCT Pub. No. WO96/12540 PCT Pub. Date May 2, 1996In order to facilitate diffusive transfer of an entity such as a solute between immiscible fluids and subsequent separation of the liquids without mixing, a method and an apparatus are disclosed and have first and second flow paths carrying first and second immiscible fluids on opposite sides of a foraminous sheet. The height of the apertures in the sheet is not greater than 200 micrometers (measured perpendicular to the width of the sheet and to the direction of fluid flow), and a stable interface is formed between the fluids within each aperture with a significant amount of fluid flow immediately adjacent the interface. Diffusive transfer takes place across the interface, and subsequently the fluids flow away from the region without mixing. The width of the flow paths measured perpendicular to sheet lies between 10 and 500 micrometers. The walls of each aperture may be parallel or tapered.

摘要: A substrate and an elastomer are bonded each other, and then, a ditch is formed at the bonded surface of the substrate or the elastomer to constitute a flow channel and thus, to constitute a minute flow channel device with the flow channel. Then, a through-hole functioning an inlet and/or outlet is formed at the elastomer so as to be communicated with the flow channel. Then, a convex or concave joint is formed at the elastomer with integration so as to be opened outward from the through-hole so that the inclination angle of said joint is set to not less than 45 degrees and less than 90 degrees. Then, a joining device is pressed and joined with the minute flow channel device via the joint. Therefore, the connection for injecting and discharging a substance such as fluid or gas can be easily realized and automatized, and the device exchange can be performed easily.

摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for improving the yield and selectivity of an objective product to be obtained in the first reaction of consecutive reactions.
SOLUTION: An apparatus for producing a substance, in which a reaction product in the first reaction is produced as the objective product by reacting the substance A with the substance B between which consecutive reactions are advanced, is provided with: a minute flow passage; a mixing part comprising a flow passage for introducing a substance A-containing solution into the minute flow passage and another flow passage for introducing a substance B-containing solution into the minute flow passage; and a temperature control unit for controlling the temperature of a reaction system in the minute flow passage. The temperature control unit controls so that the temperature of the reaction system in the minute flow passage is higher than the reaction temperature when the substance A and the substance B are subjected to a batch reaction and lower than the boiling point of the reaction system.

摘要: Method for controlling a digital-type microfluidic including provided at least one micro-droplet processing request for creating, moving, combining or mixing micro-droplets, and at least actuator processing request. The actuator processing request comprises providing a gas pressure in a selected passage by an internal component configured to heat a gas to generate a gas pressure and determining, utilizing at least one internal component, the presence or absence of a micro-droplet at a selected position. Control signals are generated in a pattern and sequence that is responsive to each micro-droplet processing request to perform the requested micro-droplet processing in the MF device.
