PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the deterioration of heat dissipation efficiency and the deterioration of cushioning capability which result from nonuniform heat distribution in a heat storing medium. SOLUTION: One or a plurality of stirring devices 83 that do not substantially react with the heat storing medium 82 are immersed in the heat storing medium 82 in advance. Using a stirring flow created by a change in relative positions of the stirring devices 83 in the heat storing medium 82 during transportation, nonuniform heat in the heat storing medium 82 is eliminated. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for efficiently and continuously culturing effective microorganisms (EM), which continuously and efficiently ferment and culture effective microorganisms in a short period by using prefermented and activated microorganisms, automatically controlling the concentration of molasses constant by considering a seasonal temperature change for feeding of molasses, automatically cleaning a fermentation tank, circulating a fermented solution in the fermentation and continuously and efficiently mass producing a high-quality fermented solution. SOLUTION: After completion of fermentation and culture of effective microorganisms in the fermentation tank, a supernatant liquid in the fermentation tank is evacuated temporarily to an evacuation tank, the remaining fermented solution is removed, the supernatant liquid is returned from the evacuation tank to the fermentation tank and the next fermentation is carried out. Therefore the fermented and activated supernatant liquid is used as a starter, the efficient and continuous fermentation and culture are carried out in a short period to improve productivity. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for filtering and culturing anaerobic hyperthermophile that is designed to efficiently densify the anaerobic hyperthermophile 12 at a high rate, and to provide a method for producing hydrogen by which the production rate and productivity of the hydrogen are improved. SOLUTION: The apparatus for filtering and culturing the anaerobic hyperthermophile is equipped with a culture vessel 10, having a filtration membrane 11, a heating means 13 for heating the culture vessel 10, a culture solution feed means 20 for feeding the culture solution to the culture vessel 10, a waste liquid recovery means 30 for recovering the waste liquid from the culture vessel 10, a gas recovering and separating means 40 for recovering and separating the gas in the culture vessel 10 and an inert gas feed means 50 for feeding the inert gas to the culture vessel 10; and the filtration membrane 11 is connected to the waste liquid recovery means 30.
