PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure simple assembling of each component, and a compact and space-saving final arrangement, after assembling each component from the aspect of design, for a drive mechanism for a mail-sorting machine for a switch used in deflecting flat, flexible mail items. SOLUTION: The machine comprises a base plate (4) that has a bottom plate (41), a shaft (1), a bearing assembly for mounting the shaft (1) on the base plate (4), a stator (6), which is firmly mounted on the base plate (4), and a rotor (7), which is rotatably mounted in the base plate (4) so as to accommodate the shaft (1) and rotate the shaft (1), wherein the bearing assembly, the rotor (7), the stator (6), preferably at least one stop surface (48) for a stop (73) on the rotor (7), and preferably also a heat dissipation assembly for the stator (6) are all arranged on the base plate (4). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branching mechanism 15 capable of branching paper money in multiple directions, and branching the paper money at a high speed. SOLUTION: A branching member 21 rotates in at least three stop positions, that is, the first stop position, where a first conveyance path is formed by connecting a first conveyance path 11 to a second conveyance path 12; a second stop position where a second conveyance path is formed by connecting the first conveyance path 11 to a third conveyance path 13; and a third stop position, where a third conveyance path is formed by connecting another path other than the first conveyance path. The turning speed of the branching member 21 between the first stop position and the second stop position is set so as to be made smaller than the turning speed between the first stop position and the third stop position and the turning speed between the second stop position and the third stop position. Paper money which is conveyed from the first conveyance path 11 can be branched at a high speed into the second conveyance path 12 and the third conveyance path 13 by the branching member 21. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably quantitatively expand an interval between preceding sheets and succeeding sheets, even in sheets feeble in strength in the carrying direction. SOLUTION: In an upper part on the downstream side in the carrying direction of a lower carrier conveyor 1 for carrying the sheets such as veneers 2f, 2g and 2h, a carrying area is overlapped by the proper length, and an upper carrier conveyor 3 faster in a carrying speed than a carrying speed of the lower carrier conveyor 1, is also oppositely arranged to the lower carrier conveyor 1 at an interval wider by several times than the thickness of the sheets. A suction mechanism 4 capable of simultaneously sucking the sheets carried to an overlapping carrying area of both carrier conveyors 1 and 3 over the total length, is juxtaposed so that several suction hoods 4a face to a part of the overlapping carrying area. A control mechanism 8 is also arranged for controlling operation of the suction mechanism 4. Every time when the sheets are carried to the overlapping carrying area, the sheets are simultaneously sucked to the upper carrier conveyor 3 side from above the lower carrier conveyor 1 via the suction mechanism 4. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a large number of cards C with a saved space by reducing the number of parts and simplifying structure to reduce a size in a card stacker device having two stackers. SOLUTION: A stacker in which cards C are stored in a stacked state is vertically divided by a partition part 11. The introduction direction of the cards C inserted into the upper stacker 12 and the lower stacker 13 through card insert/discharge ports 35 is branched by a branching drive roller 32. The stacker in which the cards are stored is selected by a carrying drive roller 24 attached to the partition part 11 and the cards are stored therein.
