Abstract:
The present invention has its object to provide a curable composition which comprises a guanidine compound as a non-organotin type catalyst, is less discolored, has good surface curability, depth curability, strength rise and adhesiveness, and can retain the curability even after storage; the above object can be achieved by a curable composition which comprises: (A) an organic polymer containing a silyl group capable of crosslinking under siloxane bond formation, the silyl group being a group represented by the general formula (1): -SiX 3 (1) (wherein X represents a hydroxyl group or a hydrolyzable group and the three X groups may be mutually the same or different), (B) a guanidine compound (B-1) as a silanol condensation catalyst, and (C) a plasticizer, wherein the content of the component (B-1) is not lower than 0.1 part by weight but lower than 8 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the component (A), and a non-phthalate ester plasticizer accounts for 80 to 100% by weight of the (C) component plasticizer.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ambient temperature curing coating composition having UV resistance, flexibility, adhesiveness to a substrate and high heat resistance and being low in contents of volatile organic compounds.SOLUTION: An ambient temperature curing coating composition includes a polysiloxane expressed by formula, an alkoxysilyl-functional acrylic polymer, and a curing catalyst. In the formula, each R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl and alkoxy groups having up to six carbon atoms, a reactive glycidoxy group and an OSi(OR3)group, wherein each R3 independently has the same meaning as R1, and each R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl and aryl groups having up to six carbon atoms; and that n is selected so that the molecular weight of polysiloxane ranges from 500 to 2,000; in the formula.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which it is very easy to determine whether the thickness of a coating film during coating has reached a predetermined thickness, thereby forming an even antifouling film having a predetermined thickness of a dry film in a more accurate and simple way.SOLUTION: The method for forming an antifouling coating film includes: [1] a step for preparing a colored antifouling coating material including a predetermined Si-containing hydrolysable resin and a colored pigment, in which a coating film formed from the colored antifouling coating material has a target dry film thickness and completely covers the surface of an article to be coated, the color difference ΔE1 between a coating film having the target dry film thickness and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 0.8 T is 2.0 or greater, and preferably the color difference ΔE2 between a coating film having the target dry film thickness and a coating film having a dry film thickness of 1.2 T is less than 1; and [2] a step for coating the surface of the article to be coated, in which the surface of the article to be coated is coated with the colored antifouling coating material until the surface of the article to be coated is completely covered by a coating film formed from the colored antifouling coating material.
