In a state where a prescribed charge/discharge cycle is completed, an Al content in the nickel positive electrode 11 is 0.25% by mass or more relative to a positive electrode active material, and in powder x-ray diffraction of the positive electrode active material using Cu-Kα, the half-width of the (101) plane peak for Ni(OH)is controlled so as to be 0.5(°/2θ) or more.

The negative electrode 26 contains a phosphate-containing fluorine compound having a chemical structure having a phosphate group to be chemically bonded to the surface of the hydrogen absorbing alloy, and a fluorocarbon chain exhibiting water repellency.
