    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a ferroelectric liq. crystal display having suitable switching speed and contrast by producing a ferroelectric liq. crystal contg. a specific ferroelectric liq. crystal compd. and having a phase transition temperature of 60 deg.C or higher and a cone angle of 47 deg. or lower. CONSTITUTION:A ferroelectric liq. crystal is produced which contains 10-50wt.% at least one member selected from compds. of formual I (wherein R is 2-16C alkyl, etc.; m is 1-16; and Z is a single bond, -O-, -COO-, etc.), formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are each H, 2-16C alkyl, etc.; and Z1 and Z2 are each -O-, -COO-, etc.), and formula R (wherein A1 and A2 are each 1,4-phenylene, etc.; a is 0 or 1; and R3 and R4 are each H, 2-16C alkyl, etc.) and has an Sc/Sa phase transition temperature of 60 deg.C or higher and a cone angle at 15-35 deg.C of 47 deg. or lower. An esp. pref. example of the compd. of formula I is a compd. of formula IV; one of the compd. of formula II, a compd. of formula V. The liq. crystal may further contain 10-50wt.% phenylpyrimidine compd. A dislay using the liq. crystal has high contrast and speed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a ferroelectric liquid crystal panel which does not generate a response defective region not only in an initial state but after long-time driving as well and is capable of maintaining a good display without degradation in contrast. CONSTITUTION:This ferroelectric liquid crystal panel having a ferroelectric liquid crystal 16 clamped between substrates 11 and 12 is subjected to an electric field treatment at 60 deg.C. The ferroelectric liquid crystal 16 attains a curving angle of the layer of =1 deg. in a preservation temp. range of -20 to 60 deg.C. Then, the generation of the deformation of a layer structure within the panel surface is prevented and further, the generation of zigzag defects in the initial state after the electric field treatment is suppressed. The spontaneous polarization quantity of the ferroelectric liquid crystal 16 is and the ion quantity per unit area is . As a result, the change in the sectional structure of the later by a continuous driving is suppressed and the local increase in the curving angle of the layer is suppressed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an external agent containing the human blood coagulation factor VIII as an active ingredient and useful for skin wounds, especially the local treatment of burns. CONSTITUTION:This external agent for treating skin wounds contains the human coagulation factor VIII originated from human plasma or human placenta or produced by a genetic recombination technology as an active ingredient. Aprotinin is preferably further added to the external agent. When the external agent is applied to a wound skin, the transfer of the active ingredient, the human blood coagulation factor VIII, to the wound site is more excellent than the case when the active ingredient is intravenously administered, and the external agent can be administered without troubling a doctor. The external agent can be applied to various skin wounds such as incised wounds, stings, cut wounds, contused wound, lacerated wounds and burns.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain light absorption in a crystal in a prescribed short wavelength region, to improve crystallinity and workability and to obtain a molecular crystalline body having arrangement of molecules with no reversal symmetry by preparing an org. molecular crystalline body consisting of specified molecules. CONSTITUTION:This molecular crystalline body is an org. molecular crystalline body consisting of molecules of an org. compd. represented by the formula. The org. compd. is N-isopropyl-N'-(4-acetylphenyl)urea and is generally obtd. by allowing isopropyl isocyanate to react with 4-aminoacetophenone in the presence of a base such as triethylamine as a catalyst in a solvent such as THF under reflux. It is especially preferable that the org. molecular crystalline body has a monoclinic system and belongs to a space group P21. In order to obtain a single crystal of the org. compd., a soln. growth method such as a solvent evaporation method, a temp. dropping method or a vapor diffusion method, a vapor growth method, the Czochralski method or other known method may be adopted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the easy execution of sufficient polymn. with a simple production process for color filters without requiring the production of the color filters in an inert gaseous atmosphere or without the need for provision of a protective layer for the purpose of shutting off oxygen at the time of producing the color filters. CONSTITUTION:This radiation sensitive mixture contains (a) a binder soluble in an aq. alkaline soln., (b) a compd. having at least two residues forming a crosslinked matrix by reacting with this binder in the presence of an acid catalyst, (c) a compd. which forms an acid by irradiation with radiations, (d) an org. or inorg. pigment, (e) a dispersant and (f) a solvent. The polymer material to be used in this mixture has resilience and is therefore, advantageous for production of the color filters. Further, this mixture is wide in a range for selecting the respective components and is excellent in radiation sensitivity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To remove moisture in isopropyl alcohol vapor by passing the vapor generated from a lower part of a semiconductor drying unit to a position placed with a carrier without stay while collecting moisture to be dropped from the carrier placed with a silicon wafer. CONSTITUTION:Waterdroplet to be dropped from above are collected by waterdroplet collector jigs 11. Here, a waterdroplet collector jig 11 having an L-shaped sectional structure is used. The jigs 11 are inclined at about 45 degrees, and so disposed that longitudinal upper parts are superposed on L- shaped lateral parts of the adjacent jigs 11 as seen from the above. Waterdroplets to be dropped from above are not allowed to pass jig body by this disposing method, but all are collected. Since isopropyl alcohol vapor to be raised from below can be easily passed among the jigs 11, it can rapidly arrive at a space near the carrier placed with a wafer.
