PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner particle capable of reducing cost by simplifying a manufacturing device and by reducing the number of processes, the toner particle, a binary developer, a developing device, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A high-pressure homogenizer 1 is constituted by arraying a tank 2, a feed pump 3, a high pressure pump 4, a heat exchanger 5, a nozzle 10, the first decompression module 6, a cooling machine 7, the second decompression module 8, and a taking-out port 9 in this order. The first decompression module 6 has a linear portion wherein a flow channel constituted in its inside is inclined with respect to a flow-passing direction of an aqueous slurry, and a portion for moderating a flow of the aqueous slurry. A particle size of flocculated particles can be controlled by simultaneously generating a flow contributing to flocculation and a flow contributing to formation of fine particulate inside the first decompression module 6. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner composed of small particles which excels in a cleaning property, a transferring property and charge uniformity, a method of manufacturing the toner, a two-component developer, a developing device, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The toner contains a binder resin and a colorant, and the outline of a projected image in which the external shape is projected on a plane surface has one or more and three or less bending points. Consequently the toner has a non-spherical external shape, and therefore it is caught easily by a cleaning blade. Further it comes into point contact with an object to be transferred, it achieves both of cleaning property and transferring property. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing flocculated particles where, in an emulsification/flocculation process where resin particles are flocculated, so as to obtain flocculated particles, the generation of the overflocculation of the resin particles is prevented, and the reduction in the size of the flocculated particles and the narrowing of the grain size distribution width of the flocculated particles can be securely achieved. SOLUTION: In a dispersing stage, resin particles are dispersed into a water base medium, so as to produce the slurry of the resin particles, and, in a flocculating stage, a flocculant for flocculating the resin particles and hardly soluble inorganic particles are added to the slurry of the resin particles obtained in the dispersing stage, so as to flocculate the resin particles. In this way, the hardly soluble inorganic particles function as a spacer, and the phenomenon that the resin particles are rapidly flocculated when the dispersant is added to the slurry of the resin particles can be prevented. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method where, when a covering layer composed of shell particles is formed on the surfaces of core particles, so as to produce functional particles, the functional particles having uniform shape, suitably small-sized, having a narrow particle size distribution width, and having reduced variation of characteristics can be produced at a high yield. SOLUTION: The functional particles are produced by a production method comprising a flocculating stage S11, a pressure-reducing stage S12 and a cooling stage S13. In the flocculating stage S11, water base slurry comprising core particles and shell particles is made to flow through coil-shaped piping in a heated-pressurized state, and the shell particles are stuck to the surfaces of the core particles, so as to obtain functional particles. In the pressure-reducing stage S12, particle size regulation of the functional particles and the cracking of coarse particles are performed, so as to uniformize the particle diameter of the functional particles. In the cooling stage S13, the reflocculation of the functional particles whose particle diameter has been uniformized is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a toner having a small particle size that is effective in obtaining higher definition and higher resolution of an image without increasing the consumption of a water-soluble dispersant, that is, without increasing the frequency of cleaning works after toner granulation in the process of manufacturing a toner by a melt emulsification. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toner for electrostatic charge image development includes a granulation step by a melt emulsification, wherein a thickener is incorporated into an aqueous solution of a water-soluble dispersant to be mixed with a melt kneaded product of a toner source material. When the melt kneaded product is mixed with an aqueous solution of the water-soluble dispersant containing the thickener in an emulsifying machine 1, the shearing stress defined by μ*(π*D*N)/d is controlled to 5.5×10 6 cP/s or more, wherein μ represents the viscosity of an aqueous solution of the water-soluble dispersant containing the thickener at 25°C; π represents the circular ratio; D represents the diameter of a stirring blade 15; N represents the number of revolutions of the stirring blade 15; and d represents the gap length between the stirring blade 15 and a stator 12. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner by which the dispersibility of a colorant and internal additives is improved without using a masterbatch, so that a toner having stated performance can stably be manufactured. SOLUTION: At a step s2, a kneaded product is formed by kneading toner materials including a binder resin and composite particles produced at a step s1, such as composite particles obtained by covering wax particles with colorant particles in a state where the binder resin is melted or softened. At a step s4, toner particles are obtained by dispersing the kneaded product obtained at the step s2 in a melted or softened state in an aqueous medium produced at a step s3. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold releasing agent for achieving toner superior in off-set resistance and filming resistance without being separated from a kneaded matter even when granulating to heat a dispersion medium including the kneaded matter, and to provide the toner using the mold releasing agent and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In step s1, when at least a binder resin, a coloring agent, and a mold releasing agent are melted and kneaded to prepare the kneaded matter, the mold releasing agent including a phase dissoluble part phase dissoluble with the binder resin and a mold releasing part having mold releasing by being chemically bound to the phase dissoluble part is used as the mold releasing agent. Thereby, in step s3, the kneaded matter is mixed with an aqueous medium prepared in step s2, and when being heated and agitated to produce kneaded mater particles being toner particles, the mold releasing agent can be prevented from being separated from the kneaded matter. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner which facilitates the formation of the toner to a smaller particle diameter without the occurrence of the thermal cracking of a resin and the elimination of a release agent, is excellent in dependency on moisture resistance, and hardly gives rise to toner aggregation. SOLUTION: The toner is manufactured by applying a shearing force to a mixture composed of a colored resin composition and an organic solvent in the presence of a high molecular dispersant of 8.5 to 10 in an SP value and 50 to 80°C in glass transition temperature in a hydrophobic medium to make the mixture into particles and distilling away the organic solvent from the particles, then separating the toner from the hydrophobic medium and drying the toner.
