Abstract: PURPOSE:To so accurately connect upper and lower connecting fittings without misalignment. CONSTITUTION:A connecting fitting of an impeller rotary shaft for treating molten metal is formed of an upper fitting 22 mounted at a rotary shaft side and a lower fitting 24 mounted at a hollow rotary shaft 11 side. The fitting 22 has a vertical gas passage 25 provided at its center and a tapered recess of a truncated conical shape of a regular circle at the passage 25 formed at its lower surface as a center, and the fitting 24 is laterally split, and has a tapered protrusion of a truncated conical shape of a regular circle at an axial center of the shaft 11 as a center at its upper surface upon clamping and integrating from lateral sides. The protrusion is engaged from below the recess to clamp to connect the fitting 22 to the fitting 24.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the interadhesion of materials, more particularly molten metal and a solid and to enable the relative movement of both materials by forming a separating space between the at least two materials which wet or deposit or adhere to each other when the materials are brought into contact with each other by exciting the at least one material on account of mechanical vibration. CONSTITUTION: An immersion pipe 1 consisting of refractory ceramic material is mounted at the bottom of a metallurgical container 2. The passage 3 of the immersion pipe 1 is helpful for passing molten steel. An ultrasonic generator 4 is mounted at the immersion pipe 1. This generator 4 applies the ultrasonic vibration of the frequency exceeding 20 kHz to the immersion pipe 1 as the solid. The vibration propagates the wall body 5 of the passage 3 within the immersion pipe 1. As a result, the sustained contact of the molten metal with the wall body 5 is prevented by the high-frequency vibration and, therefore, the separating space is generated between the molten metal flowing in the passage 3 and the wall body 5. The adhesion of the solid materials, more particularly Al2 O3 particles to the wall body 5 is prevented by this separating wall.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate heavy labor of a worker for plug exchange by constructing an arc furnace bottom blow plug exchange device with a bottom blow plug supporter part disposed just under a low blow hole of an arc furnace and a cylinder for lifting vertically the supporter part. CONSTITUTION:An arc furnace 1 is supported on a platform 9, and plug exchange work is performed by a pit 15 located just under the arc furnace 1. When a plug 6 is disengaged from a bottom blow hole 5 of the arc furnace 1, the plug 6 is gripped by a gripper tool 13 of a supporter part 12 of an exchange device 10. Further, the plug 6 gripped by the gripper tool 13 of the supporter part 12 is pulled out from the bottom blow hole 5 by lowering the exchange device 10 up to a dotted location by actuating a hydraulic cylinder 14. Further, when the plug 6 is mounted, the plug 6 is gripped by the gripper tool 13 and the hydraulic cylinder 14 is actuated and further the exchange device 10 is lifted to a solid line position, whereby the plug 6 is inserted into the bottom blow hole 5, and thereafter the plug 6 is disengaged from a flange part by 90 rotation of the gripper tool 13.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently mix metallic fine pieces by forming good eddy stream in a mixing device for mixing the metallic fine pieces into molten metal. CONSTITUTION:At the lower center position of the mixing vessel 7 for molten metal 17, a molten metal discharging hole 9 is formed so as to develop the small eddy stream 10 to a part of the molten metal 17 in the mixing vessel 7. At the upper position of the mixing vessel 7, a charging hole 12 for the metallic fine pieces 11 is formed so as to charge the metallic fine pieces 11 at the center part of the eddy stream 10. In the upper part of the mixing vessel 7, the molten metal supplying hole 13 for supplying the molten metal 17 on the molten metal surface 18 where the eddy stream 10 does not exist is provided.
