Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an efficient and reliable evaluation method of a reproduction signal and an optical disk drive using this method by solving such a problem that a circuit scale is index-likely increased in accordance with the increase of a constraint length of PRML system when Euclidean distance is calculated by determining coincidence of a binarization bit column and a predetermined evaluation bit column for evaluating quality of the reproduction signal in a large capacity optical disk system having the constraint length of 5 or larger. SOLUTION: The continuous number of 2T to be contained in the predetermined evaluation bit column is expressed as i, and the evaluation bit column is considered with respect to a bit column of length (5+2i), and a determination process is executed whether the predetermined evaluation bit column is contained in the binarization bit column. Error vectors to be obtained from a target signal corresponding to the evaluation bit column and a target signal formed from the binarization bit column are prepared to select one by a result of the determination process. Simultaneously, an equalization error vector, which is obtained from the target signal to be formed from the binarization bit column and the reproduction signal, is calculated and by computing an inner product of the equalization error vector and the selected error vector, the circuit scale required for evaluation of the reproduction signal can be reduced. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that in a grooveless optical disk including a guide layer having a physical groove structure for performing tracking servo control and a recording layer not having a groove structure in the recording layer performing the recording/reproducing of data, a positional deviation from the virtual track of the recording layer occurs due to the partial warpage and inclination of an optical disk, so that there is a possibility to reduce the continuity accuracy of a connection track position and degrade recording quality, in additional recording from a recording interruption position.SOLUTION: It is achieved by executing the stop of recording and the start of the additional recording in an address position on the optical disk where the relative tilt amount between an objective lens condensing light on the recording layer and the optical disk is a predetermined value or less. Further, it is achieved by executing the operation of taking out the optical disk, to inhibit the additional recording to the recording layer after the recording is interrupted.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate the total recording speed when performing recording in a plurality of different recording layers of an optical disk by using a plurality of optical pickups.SOLUTION: In an optical recording method, with a predetermined position on a radius in a recording area of a disk having a plurality of recording layers as a boundary, an area on the inner peripheral side is defined as an angular velocity fixed control area, an area on the outer peripheral side is defined as a linear velocity fixed control area, and recording is performed in the plurality of recording layers by using a plurality of optical pickups. In the optical recording method, when the recording is performed simultaneously from the position on the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side from a predetermined position of a disk by using the plurality of optical pickups, the recording by an angular velocity fixed control system to the angular velocity fixed control area precedes, and the completed recording by the optical pickup is stopped. When the recording in the angular velocity fixed control area of the plurality of optical pickups is completed, it is switched to a linear velocity fixed control system.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grooveless disk medium capable of accurately performing layer discrimination by easily forming a pattern for enabling layer discrimination in each recording layer before recording data on a recording layer of a disk, a recording and playback method and a recording and playback device.SOLUTION: In an optical disk having a plurality of recording layers without the presence of a guide groove structure and a guide layer having a guide groove structure, a layer discrimination pattern capable of discriminating a recording layer is recorded at a predetermined position of at least one of the innermost peripheral side and the outermost peripheral side of each recording layer. Further, the layer discrimination pattern is made to be a repeated pattern having a different period in each recording layer, and layer discrimination is performed from the period of a signal obtained by scanning this area with a light spot.
Abstract:
There is provided an apparatus and a method for generating record data, guaranteeing seamless playback even in a case of occurrence of a jump. In a multilayer disc having a plurality of recording layers, it is configured that an allowable range of an intra-layer jump and an inter-layer jump carried out in a playback processing of an information recording medium is determined and a required time for the intra-layer jump and the inter-layer jump is calculated on the basis of the determined allowable jump range information so as to determine a data configuration requirement such as an allowable minimum consecutive data size of data to be stored in the information recording medium on the basis of the calculated required jump time. With the present structure, seamless playback is made possible even in a case of occurrence of not only an intra-layer jump but also an inter-layer jump.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent seek speed from decreasing for a recording medium including a recording layer without pre-address.SOLUTION: When recording is performed on a recording medium including a recording layer to which an address is provided along with the recording of main information, and a reference plane to which an address is provided along with the formation of a position guide, correspondence relation information for identifying a substantial correspondence relation between a recording layer address and a reference plane address is created based on the recording layer address provided to the recording layer along with the recording of the main information and the reference plane address detected when the recording layer address is provided to the recording layer, and the correspondence relation information is recorded in the recording medium. When a required target recording layer address is accessed, a beam spot of a laser beam with which the recording layer as a target is irradiated can be positioned in the vicinity of the target recording layer address by executing seek for the reference plane address identified by the correspondence relation information and the target recording layer address. As a result, a decrease in the seek speed is effectively prevented.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent infinite linkage from being generated for a recording destination of prespiral recording management information when recording a prespiral to be needed at the start of writing data in a recording medium for which a position guide is not formed in a recording layer.SOLUTION: A preformat area is provided as a pre-recording track formation area of double pitch for a recording layer, and management information is recorded by a laser beam for recording while applying tracking servo by a laser beam for adjacent track servo to the pre-recording track. When it is assumed that recording management information for a prespiral at the start of writing user data is recorded in a TDMA and recording management information for the a prespiral at the start of writing TDMA is recorded in another location, the TDMA prespiral recording management information is recorded to such a preformat area.
