摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate genuineness of securities by a magnetic signal when characters different in each of the securities are printed in magnetic ink. SOLUTION: This security discrimination apparatus includes a magnetic sensor part 14, an image reading part 16, a storing part 20, and a processing part 18, and the magnetic sensor part measures a magnetic signal. The image reading part reads an image of combination of prefix letters, a serial number, and suffix letters from the securities. The storing part stores thresholds associated with the maximum number of pixels which is calculated beforehand about all combinations of numbers and characters. The processing part includes a level detecting part for detecting the maximum level among detected levels, a pixelation part 30 for creating a pixelated image from the image of combination of the prefix letters, the serial number, and the suffix letters to calculate the maximum number of pixels, a collating part 31 for reading a threshold corresponding to the maximum number of pixels from the storing part, a reading part 32, and a discriminating part 34 for comparing the threshold read from the storing part with a magnetic signal detected by scanning of the magnetic sensor part. 摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which simultaneously detects the thickness and ink content of a paper sheet with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A sensor part 100 of a paper sheet discrimination device 10 includes: a variable inductance part 110 where the inductance varies depending on the thickness and ink content of the paper sheet; and an output signal generation part 120 for generating an output signal depending on the inductance of the variable inductance part 110. The variable inductance part 110 has a contact terminal 112 having a magnetostrictive property and a coil 113 provided on an outer periphery of the contact terminal 112. The contact terminal 112 is disposed so as to receive a pressing force from a spring 632 through an auxiliary roller 630. When the pressing force received from the spring 632 is changed in accordance with a thickness t of a bank note BL, permeability of the contact terminal 112 is changed, resulting in a change in inductance of the variable inductance part 110.
