PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition reducing, suppressing or eliminating skin irritation induced by a surfactant. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the detergent composition comprising at least one surfactant, at least one extract of a Lamiaceae family plant, and at least one extract of a Liliaceae family plant, and the at least one extract of the Lamiaceae family plant and the at least one extract of the Liliaceae family plant are present in effective amounts to at least partially counteract skin irritation induced by the at least one surfactant. The extract of a Lamiaceae family plant and the extract of a Liliaceae family plant have synergistically reducing, suppressing or eliminating effect on IL-1α secretion which induces skin irritation. The present invention relates to formulations of ingredients that are useful for improving the appearance, texture and/or moisture of skin. In particular, the formulations of the present invention stimulate collagen, elastin, and lipid synthesis and/or inhibit or minimize the loss of collagen, elastin, and lipids in the skin. Additionally, the formulations of the present invention inhibit matrix metalloproteases, such as MMP-1, MMP-9, collagenase, or elastase.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formulation of components useful for improvement of the appearance, texture and/or moisture retention of the skin.SOLUTION: There is provided a formulation containing 100-150 mg grape seed extract, 30-500 mg wolfberry, 30-500 mg rose hip, and an acceptable carrier, which does not contain any plants belonging to the Pfaffia genus, Ajuga fauriei genus, and Rhaponticum genus. The formulation can promote the synthesis of lipid, collagen, or elastin by skin cells.

The composition can include at least one of rosehips, blueberry, blackberry, elderberry, cranberry, rosemary, clove, feverfew, nettle root, artichoke, reishi mushroom, olive extract, green tea extract, grape seed extract, resveratrol, Aframomum melegueta, boswellia serrata extract, boswellia forte, ipriflavone, tocotrienols, evening primrose oil, INM-176, borage oil, krill oil, at least one type of xanthophyll (e.g., astaxanthin), green coffee extract and ferulic acid. Specifically, a composition of the invention can include: rosehips and at least one of blackberry, blueberry, elderberry, and optionally krill oil; or rosehips, resveratrol and at least one of Aframomum melegueta and astaxanthin. Based on the cytokine modulation and cytokine response inhibition of the composition, it can be used to regulate an immunomodulatory and/or inflammatory response, and subsequently treat diseases and/or abnormal conditions associated with inflammatory response, for example, cardiovascular conditions, arthritis, osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease.
